Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
For some reason, it does not work on the Smartie-Phone?

Nice clear video that Bertie, although I am not a lover of music being played when people do videos of their loco's, I turned the sound down, but then I lose slightly the sounds coming from the loco, but it was still a very enjoyable video.

Uh-oh. What doesn’t work Phil?
And thanks, Rod.

Followed the link, to a page of numbered entries/videos..
Clicked on 17,and it opened a larger version of the thumbnail. But clicking the 'play' icon did nothing..
A download of the mp4, did allow me to watch it though.
I blame the Chinese, and the Smartie-Phone!

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
Hi Bertie, I had issues viewing it from your website too. Using a Samsung Galaxy A8, I can get about a minute in and then it just locks up! Fortunately I was able to download it and view it direct - great stuff! Very stirring

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
Deary Me. Apologies. This kind of thing comes round not infrequently. I wonder what it is this time? Thanks for letting me know.
Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
I don't get it Bertie, I watched it on all my Apple stuff, MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone. Still I have also had some videos not play on them from other people too, so it maybe something that is blocking them for Phil and anyone else who can't view it.

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
Thanks Rod. Same here. It all works fine on all my Mac / iOS browsers (though there was a time when Chrome and Firefox would have you pulling your hair out). Different browsers on different OS render differently and things can change whenever there’s an update. I’m afraid the Windows and Android kit I’ve used to test stuff in the past is now too old to be any use. Ho hum.

Loverly, early evening, warm light
I was pondering a ‘Diesel Gala’ video epic, though recent rain means everything outside is now sopping wet — but here’s a couple of alternatives to the Photo Gallery 'arrival of the Gala’s attractions' picture.
Should have pushed the roof closed on the middle one...
Not noticed the bent shunter handrail before. Hmmph!

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
It’s coming out of the workshop significantly longer than it went in
Return of the Leader
A rather semi-scale, ‘informed by the Bulleid Leader’ effort, from a few years ago, has reached the top of the ‘tidy up and equip with battery-power and radio control’ queue, at last.
As built, I came to think, it looked obviously, frustratingly, too short — so, in a moment of ill-advised enthusiasm, I got out a large saw and cut it in half, the idea being to extend it towards more prototypical proportions.
I should probably have pondered this a little more carefully. As it is, I’ve added to the centre of the body, which I hope should look OK as long as you don’t inspect the thing too closely. The relative proportions of the boiler, bunker and centre cab are now even more semi-scale than before. And it’s still going to be a bit shorter than it ‘ought to be’ but — Hey! It’s a garden railway, it won’t look so bad from a few yards away...
It regularly makes those ‘Most Ugly Locomotive’ lists but I think the 1949 original looks great.

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
Already I can see that's going to look superb! I love the way you 're-imagine' your wonderful builds, a fresh approach to modelling.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
That’s very kind Peter, thank you. I wish I was that confident!
Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
Don't put yourself down Bertie, you do a fantastic job with whatever you build and like Peter says, your re-imagining of your builds is brilliant.

I can see the video now...
A blue-grey cast over the video.. Glimpses of 'something' moving amongst the vegetation... Overlaid with the theme from Jaws!
(Think I had better have a lie-down)

Thanks for the encouragement — and stuff.
The lengthened, narrow(er) gauge Leader: a bit scruffy now, obviously, but it’s coming along. Will I have to re-landscape the garden to accommodate it? (Or move?)
