well the SV starts releasing steam at 40PSI.......

What for? Look at the SV on your Caradoc, you will see 2 slots in the top. If you use some tweezers, long nosed plyers, dividers or anything you can get like that, to slot into them and turn clockwise so it screws downwards a little bit, this will tighten the spring and allow it to blow off higher. I usually steam it up to blowing off pressure then set it so I can use the gauge to set it to 60psi. The SVs are designed to be adjustable like this.
