IMPORTANT!!! - Transferring GRF ownership to myself
This is just a simple poll to find out if people are happy for me to run with ownership of the forum. As far as I see it absolutely nothing would change in the forum at all, we keep all posts and pictures. It would however mean that responsibility for the domain and site is down to me, are you happy with that? Admin of the day to day stuff will fall on other admins / moderators.
I have run forums from home on my own servers and storage and I currently run site admin for another forum. I used to work in IT for 20+ years and the last job I was an HP storage expert, great if you want a NAS or a SAN I used to install and setup server and storage of all shapes and sizes. Currently working as a carer for my wife who is now long term ill.
Any questions please ask away.
The poll is running for 5 days, so please vote soon.
Thanks
Steve

Voted! As I said in the other thread, thank you, I am very keen to see the forum continue in its current form and hugely appreciate your stepping in and taking this on.
Re: IMPORTANT!!! - Transferring GRF ownership to myself
It will be interesting to see how many of the 1122 vote.
Re: IMPORTANT!!! - Transferring GRF ownership to myself
My bet is about 30
Re: IMPORTANT!!! - Transferring GRF ownership to myself
Well, I did a check a few days ago and of the 1122, only just over 200 had actually logged in from 1st June until now, so that kind of limits the potential number of voters and contributors.

As an IT numpty I have no idea what Steve is talking about, but the very fact that he is prepared to take on this task gets my vote.

I don't care how many have logged on or how many vote. We now have someone willing to take our forum on and keep the best forum on the internet going.
I have PM Phillip also on the issue of payment. I am willing to contribute and it doesn't matter to me if there are freeloaders....Gosh how I so hate that word....We have a bright future again and many more years of being able to share our hobby with so many members and enjoy the friendliness of what could be the number one Garden Railways forum on the internet......
You can tell how passionate I am about our forum hopefully........

Re: IMPORTANT!!! - Transferring GRF ownership to myself
At the time of writing this I notice that I am the only member viewing this thread along with 3 guests. In total there are 70 guests viewing the Forum as a whole whist only four members are logged in. There seems to be a great interest in maintaining the Forum but few willing to share their experience.
I put out an appeal to all guests to make a commitment to join in the party to get maximum return. You can see we are all passionate about continuing the story so join us, and if possible, add to the funds to secure its future. By sharing the cost we benefit from reduced subscriptions, what's not to like?

Hi all,
It looks like we're pretty unanimous in our gratitude to Steve and desire to see him keep up Tom's good work.
In the interest of transparency and fairness, but bearing in mind the need to keep things moving, let's say that the poll will close today at 7pm GMT.
Speak now, or forever hold your peace...
Cheers,
Andrew.

Steve, keeping this forum moving forward with a transfer would be the best for it [IMHO], so if this achievable please go for it
