SEPTEMBER 2020 Photo Gallery LAST DAY TOMORROW (15th)
SEPTEMBER 2020 Photo Gallery LAST DAY TOMORROW (15th)
Rik's suggestion for the theme of the next Gallery is: Railway idyll"
Looking out of the window as I'm typing, all I can see is heavy grey cloud and trees bending in the stiff wind, far from idyllic but I live in hope....!
So rules as before, but with one change. It hasn't really been an issue before, but we had huge size variation between submitted pictures this time, for some reason, varying from 400 x330 pixels & 61kB to 939x1251 pixels & 373kB. So going forward, I think we need to standardise somewhat and level the playing field slightly. Future entries should ideally therefore be 640x480 or 800x600 or somewhere in between. If you want to enter a portrait style rather than landscape picture thats fine, but in that case the height should be limited to 800 max, please.
Submit your entry below by 15th September please.

Kath sits in her favourite spot after another enjoyable day as official tour guide in the historic village she calls 'home'. She is glad of a mug of coffee (that's what she says!) and can relax now the visitors have gone aboard the last Heritage Train of the day, passing in the background.
The day is warm and calm, the streets quiet and the landscape beautiful..... Idyllic......

Re: SEPTEMBER 2020 Photo Gallery entries here
There is a back story to this scene. Before kids, our holidays usually consisted of a drive to a National Park for some camping. On the way, I was always on the lookout for free camping sites. I found that old railway stations were good sites. There was usually still a building to shelter in, a tank for water and even a dunny.
I have tried to recreate a similar scene here with old Blackwall station, the dunny and tank, (but we didn’t have a VW or a dog).
So here we are in 1973 cooking our steaks as the sun goes down. “Idyllic“ memories!

Re: SEPTEMBER 2020 Photo Gallery entries here
Most of us take photos larger than is want is required for the forum. So a perfect app to reduce them is Snapseed. It is easy to use and you still have the original for other use's.
There are two brilliant photos again. Not got anything again to enter. Still I do enjoy looking at the entrants and seeing who is more likely to win. I don't vote much now, I keep voting for more than one entrant....
There are so many excellent entries.

Some great pictures here from all over the world.

Rural idyll: I like to see this one as the view down the hillside, through the wildflowers to the branchline below. Note the lush pasture beyond. (It’s from my comfy garden seat)

I keep forgetting the photo competition threads exist! Some great entries here already. Mine won't compare thanks to the background, but it was nevertheless too nice a day to not get a photo.
