I have been working my way through checking a number of vintage/old model steam locomotives that my model club has. I have been told this is a Marklin from the 1920's. Video at:

It did seem to run better the more you ran her.
Yes, possibly because the water was lower in the boiler better evaporation so more steam? With its virtually unprotected flame I wonder if they were ever intended to run outdoors? I have a few more about 10 old model locomotives both clockwork and steam to work through for the club. I am beginning to wonder that its was a good idea suggesting that they could run them it they dual gauged their G45 track!

Always nice to see more "ancient" live steam. I agree with you on the evaporation - all of my pot-boilered engines exhibit similar behavior over the course of a run. Would love to see the other engines as you work through reviving them.
