Spares box scratchbuild project
Spares box scratchbuild project
I’m under strict instructions from her who must be obeyed to curb the spending on railway stuff, so as I get a bit twitchy when I haven’t got a project on the go I thought I’d invite some suggestions for my next loco build scavenged from the spares box. I’ve pulled out a few useful looking parts and done a bit of a mock up of my initial idea but am open to any thoughts on a suitable small prototype to base it on. There’s various detail bits and pieces kicking about as well as a fair few brass and plasticard offcuts in the scrap box at home!

I'm certainly intruiged to see what this will develop into. Would be great to see some more photos as it progresses
Re: Spares box scratchbuild project
A powered tender for some exotic loco which wouldn't have room inside its body for a power source?
Or how about one of these? Rik

I’ve been temporarily distracted by a toolbox full of lady Anne bits belonging to a mate, will get back to this once I’ve decided what I’m doing with that!
Re: Spares box scratchbuild project
That looks like a very early i/c loco - what is it?
Must say projects like this encapsulate what appeals to me about this hobby, this forum, and the scratch-building project threads in particular. Each to their own, of course, but the slightly po-faced world of fine scale modelling isn't for me. I'm here for the 'let's get the bits box out and have some fun' approach

At first I'd say corrugated iron shed on wheels, but actually it's a Greenwood vertical boilered locoTom85 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 9:15 am That looks like a very early i/c loco - what is it?

Couldn’t agree more, while I can appreciate finescale modelling, the satisfaction you take from running something you built yourself out of bits in the shed is what it’s all about for meTom85 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 9:15 am That looks like a very early i/c loco - what is it?
