I really like Irish narrow gauge so when I saw a body shell for the CDR's #12 on Ebay a while ago I had to have it. It's been sitting on a shelf since - with a toddler I just never have any modeling time anymore. But I really have the bug to work on something lately - so I took advantage of some loud construction in the office to 'work from home' today.
Getting started: our donor unit is a Bachmann Lil' Hauler (45mm gauge, since the CDR was 3 foot). Those rods look almost dead on for a Walker Brothers tractor unit to me.
A little light surgery...
That doesn't look half bad proportion wise
Some more than light surgery with the dremel
Everything dry fit together. Lot's of work let to do - radio control & battery, the tractor needs to modified a bit so the wheels can sit a little bit farther back. The rear truck needs a lot of work to 1) look like the real thing 2) turn!

Brilliant solution. Really love those Walker railcars and that looks like a great specimen.

Fine and imaginative example of modelling, nice job so far.

Let's hope no one from your work uses the forum!
You have done a good job so far, a much cheaper option than buying RTR.
