Micron radio control
Micron radio control
Hi all, I recently purchased a Micron transmitter and receiver from eBay. I have successfully installed in my Mamod Boulton. While it works it doesn't correspond with the controls on the transmitter. I have the rotary speed, inertia and direction switch. The direction switch doesn't work but the rotary speed works with off about half way and half of the range for forward and the other half for reverse. Can this be reprogrammed? I will look up the receiver as I am not sure of the number.

Re: Micron radio control
Have you got a link of what you purchased please so we can advise you?
Re: Micron radio control
Which transmitter is it?
Is there an obvious centre off position on the speed dial or is it a low-off working as a centre off somehow which is as you're describing it?
In which case I'd guess the Tx has been reconfigured rather than anything to do with the Rx as both versions of Tx are available from Micron
Edit. Tom's post is a bit more to the point than mine

Re: Micron radio control
Sounds like a Tx22 and Rx102. The reverser switch on the Tx22 should control ch3. Have you got the reverser servo connected to pin 3 on the rx?
Edit: Sorry, just discovered the Boulton is a diesel loco.
Presumably you have on of the more recent Rx65c receivers. That can be reprogrammed to be 'low off' rather than 'centre off'
This can be done by connecting pads 2 and 3 together temporarily while you switch on the rx. Then switch off and remove the link.

Hi all,
Sorry for the delayed reply-just got back in the country. I have a TX22 transmitter and a n RX102 receiver. I have tried the suggested but it does nothing. Any suggestions?
Kind regards
Neil

If it's new then the supplier should be sorting this out for you so I would contact them if Rik's advice did not resolve the issue.
Re: Micron radio control
If you have a Rx102, that is 'just' a receiver.. - Somewhere in your Boulton, there is a ESC (Speed Controller) as well! - This will need to be reconfigured (if possible) to allow you to use the combination of controls you wish to.
Come back with the ESC details, and 'we' can help you out.

Re: Micron radio control
Why did they use a Rx102 when a Rx65 would perform both Rx and ESC functions?

Hi,
Using a viper loco 10 ESC.
Kind regards

Re: Micron radio control
The idea was that if a Purchaser used a different radio control system, they could 'just' swap-out the Rx..
That was when I was first involved.. They decided I was too small a Supplier, in the end. :-{
Depending on age of the OP's Boulton, it may have a 'black lump' as an ESC? - If so, I will email Peter (at Mamod) and see what can be done..

Hi Neil,
Having looked on the Mtronics site.. This would appear to be a 'centre-off' controller. - The instructions show how to set the 'zero' point and maximum forwards/reverse settings.
Looks like you are stuck with 'centre-off' unless you swap-out the ESC to one which can do 'low-off', or redeploy the Rx102/Viper, and fit a Rx66a in it's place.
