Now, time for the final reveals! What's that. I thought you'd already done that. About that........

Firstly, Coach 15!

Image

We asked if you wanted coach 15. You said you did. So here it is!!!! It’s ended up slightly more expensive than her sister but we still feel it offers great value for money. Priced at £105 in MDF or £120 in Plywood. Available at Peterborough. Along with 4 other shall we say related projects....... Prices are only a rough guide (well it was at the time of writing, see below for the real pricing!!!). Is this the fastest Bowaters Models has been able to turn around a project? Probably. Plenty more rapid turnarounds to come!!!

Now onto the good stuff. Seeing as they're out in the wild, time to properly reveal the 2 major 2019 projects we've been working on.

Image

A while ago, we announced ranges covering both South African Railway and a set of Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway Heritage Coaches. Examples of BOTH ranges will be available for viewing at Peterborough! We aim to have a wide range of models on display and we're sure there's something for everyone!

For more information on our FR & WHR Heritage range, view the range on our website!:- http://www.bowatersmodels.co.uk/ffestin ... age-range/

Image

For more information on our SAR range, view the range on our website:- http://www.bowatersmodels.co.uk/coming- ... -railways/

We also have some additional information regarding pricing on the Peterborough show website! For the first time ever, we've been able to make some major changes to a large percentage of our products regarding pricing. Have a look for yourself:- https://www.nationalgardenrailwayshow.o ... rs-models/

We're also delighted to present to you the latest edition of our catalogue along with our new price list. Both are effective as of the 1st of April which is when the website update is aimed to go live with the new models on. Have a look for yourself as we're sure we have something for every modeller in our new expanded range!

Its technically available now. Its listed on our website as under 'On File'. Sadly we don't see a place in them in the main range at the moment deciding to focus on other projects for now however the design is proven (its based on 102 abet with new sides that we can test cut before sending one out) so we can produce it to order. Let me know if you'd like one as I can slot them into a production run with relative ease! Same with any other kits on that page:- http://www.bowatersmodels.co.uk/on-file/

Pleasure to meet you yesterday Jon. The 91 and the Hunslet looked great! Might have issues with loading gauge for the 91 but might get one for display...
WHR carriages looked great! Once I've got the FR rake done I'll get a few.

Time for the reveals from Peterborough! We revealed two engines and a new set of coaches!

Image

At the National Garden Railway Show, we debuted two of our brand new items of motive power! Our South African Railways Class 91 and Royal Naval Armament Depot 60HP Diesel!

The South African Railways Class 91 was a class of 2ft gauge diesel built for operation on the Avontuur line out of Port Elizabeth in the eastern cape. These engines at first operated alongside then replaced the Beyer Garratts which were then sent to work on Natal. Until recently, most of the class survived however in recent times, a number have been scrapped with a number surviving into preservation.

The Royal Naval Armament Depot 60hp Diesel was a type of engine that operated on the wide array of rail connected depots used by the British Government specifically for the Navy. A small number were built but they saw long and useful service in their intended role. As the depots they served closed, a number have been sold into preservation with examples being found at the Ffestiniog Railway, Lynton and Barnstaple Railway and the Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway amongst others.

Image

The Class 91 is modelled in as built condition and the RNAD is based on the preserved Barton Hall on the Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway. A Spoornet condition Class 91 is being considered and the RNAD can be offered with one or two belt covers to allow for a wide range of these engines to be modelled.

Both feature laser cut construction, 3D printed sections and plenty of etched detail! They’re suitable for 32mm gauge and 45mm gauge. Both engines will feature PDF Models power units and come complete with Accucraft Chopper Couplings as standard! Neither are available yet with the RNAD diesel being due at Sittingbourne later this year and the Class 91 being due at Exeter!

Image

We have listened to you and are releasing 4 Superbarn style coaches! Covering both styles of saloons, service car 125 and Pullman 150, this range along with potentially the 5 FR coaches currently in storage which will complete the Bowaters Models FR Range in full. We’re aiming for the first one to be at Exeter with a similar price to our 13m WHR coaches. This should bring the FR fleet up to 19 different coaches along with a full range of WHR coaches. We are also actively considering making Service Coach 2011 to complete the WHR range along with the in-development coach 2100 'Glaslyn'. Image by Max Brayne.

As always, if you have any questions, let me know!

With the launch of our new webstore, Bowaters Models has seen new levels of profitability and a completely new way to get our products to you our customers. Combined with other signifcant improvements in the business, we can offer a wider range of products to you a lot faster than we have in the past. However, our new webstore does duplicate against our section of the Narrow Planet webstore we also maintain. Keeping both stores running requires a huge amount of work in the background effectively doubling our workload every time we release a new product.

Therefore, we have made the decision that we will be only supporting our own store as of the end of June. As such we will be removing everything from Narrow Planet on that date. We thank the team at Narrow Planet for their support over the time we’ve been there and we’re looking forward to the future operating our own store. We will be continuing to work with Narrow Planet on upcoming projects as appropriate and will continue to share a stand at the larger garden railway shows such as Peterborough.

Good luck with it Jon, glad the business is on the up. I now suspect that may have accounted for a certain recent delay ;)

At Peterborough, we released our South African Railways Goods stock and brake vans. We’re not revealing our Passenger stock! We have 6 kits due for release on the 15th of June. Covered the L4 and L5 variants, these 6 kits are perfect for the Accucraft South African Railways locomotives as well as our own upcoming Class 91!

Image

All are available in both MDF and Plywood. They also come with Accucraft Chopper Couplings and HGLW bogies in the gauge of your choice (32mm or 45mm gauge) which are produced under license. They are also available without those items. Plus all kits come with UK postage and packing as standard. Postage to elsewhere in the world is at cost. Priced from £75 each, these coaches will look great on your Garden Railway!

Image

More information will be available on the product pages once we release them.

Image

The planned range is as follows:-

BMP-000A SAR Apple Express Train Pack (6 Coaches)

FORUMS FIRST LOOK

Image

Yes, that's right. We're doing a forum first look reveal on this one. And it's a big one. We regularly describe Bodysgallen as the Queen of our range. Unsurprising as she's one of the biggest models and also a Pullman. Well, now its time for her replacement to make its appearance! And appropriately, its another Welsh Highland Railway Coach. This time? GLASLYN

Image

The longest coach in the range (760mm long) and also the one we're most proud of! Using our tried and tested multimedia approach we use on complicated coaches, this coach is the perfect addition to your WHR set. Considering we also make its matching service coach 2010, the pair along with any two or more of our existing WHR range will be perfect for your garden railway. Minimum radius is 5ft although as with the rest of our range, it can go around tighter by moving the bogies towards the end of the coach. The coach will come complete with decals, couplings and bogies and with a little paint, glue and your time could be ready to go on your garden railway soon!

Available in both Plywood and MDF, this coach is due to be released at Exeter and we can't wait to see it on other people's garden railways!

Disclaimer:- The model shown is the first prototype. We are aware there are issues with it and they are being addressed. However, if you do spot any, please let us know either on our facebook, on the forum or via our email. Our email is info@bowatersmodels.co.uk

Newly released today! Our South African Railways Passenger Coaches! Covering the major L4 and L5 variants, these kits follow the Bowaters Models philosophy of being easy to assemble yet providing a excellent model to the customer out of the box. We're releasing 2 L4s, 2 L4 brake vans and 2 L5s. All the kits have a laser cut construction with 3D printed parts used where appropiate. They also come complete with Accucraft Chopper Couplings and HGLW Bogies in either 32mm or 45mm gauges. We are also releasing a Apple Express multipack featuring 6 of the coaches. These coaches complete the range at present although we do have a addition multipack planned when Jon returns from a course at the end of next week covering T&P Operations on the Avontuur line.

The pricing is as follows:-
L4s - £75 each in MDF. £90 in Plywood.
L4 Brake Coaches - £95 each in MDF. £110 in Plywood.
L5s - £90 each in MDF. £105 in Plywood.

So as you will now know, along with SLR Models, we have developed a working version of their new Bowaters Couplings that makes use of Accucraft components. We show these to you installed on our model of The Tank and retrofitted to a Accucraft Superior. We will also be fitting them to a Accucraft Leader and Excelsior in time. Massive thanks to Laurence Smith for his help in getting the data for these Couplings.

Image

So what will we be using them for? Well for a start, for our Bowaters themed motive power kits, we will be having them as an optional extra starting with the Tank and Victor later this year. We will also be making them available with our Superb project when it’s released. And a couple of others once we announce them later this year......

Image

As with the rest of our Bowaters themed products, we will be donating 20% of the profits from the sale of each one to the Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway Garden Railway. They’re available for £30 each per pair.

Image

They’re available from our site right now and can be found here:- https://shop.bowatersmodels.co.uk/colle ... ersion-kit

Image

We have also released our sets of Bowaters Nameplates today. Made for us by Narrow Planet, we’ve made 3 sets available for now but hopefully, we may make some others in time. They’re priced at £15 a pair unpainted. They’re available from here:- https://shop.bowatersmodels.co.uk/colle ... eplate-set

Image

Speaking of new products, we’ve also released our T&P South African Railways Multipack. Featuring 4 wagons and 3 coaches, this represents a shortened version of the full length trains which ran to up to 12 vehicles long! Available in both 32mm and 45mm gauges and in both MDF and Plywood. It’s available now on a 3-4 week delivery time for £380 a set in MDF or £485 a set in Plywood. Subtract £105 for no bogies and Couplings. You can find it here:- https://shop.bowatersmodels.co.uk/colle ... -multipack

And finally, we’ve reactivated the Plywood option on the website! After a couple of issues, we’re happy to now no longer restrict the flow of Plywood orders. Therefore, you can now order them as standard options again on the site.
