Acme sound card installed in my HGLW diesel loco
Just installed an Acme multi-cylinder diesel soundcard in my HGLW loco. Here's what it sounds like ......
..... and here's how I did it.

Re: Acme sound card installed in my HGLW diesel loco
I do love the sound of this, just a shame it does not increase with speed and has no start up and shutdown sequences, leaves me in a world of, which one should I go for, space is not an issue, it's going in Goliath, says it all really, lol
The buck stops here .......

The sound card is good for a train that you just want to set off and go.
It sounds the part, better than the MLS diesel sound cards they sound crap even the latest offering.

I think you're being a bit harsh on MLS. I don't own any MLS, but this video of my mate's diesel fitted with an older MLS card sounds pretty good to me.tom_tom_go wrote: โMon Feb 18, 2019 4:52 pm The sound card is good for a train that you just want to set off and go.

The speaker size and 'enclosure' can make a big difference too.

The new cards still sound synthesised and robotic.
Only my opinion of course.

I thought the latest MLS digitised light diesel card sounds seemed pretty good to me. This would be the one I'd be most likely to use. I think the horn sounds are not wonderful, but the start-up, tickover, run and wind-down sounds seem to me to be at least as good as MTroniks plus you can choose between two different engine sounds and can have air brake and brake squeal. I'm certainly interested in giving one a try.

If I didn't run live steamers I would certainly fit MLS steam sound cards as Rik demonstrates in this video how well they sound and can be configured for realistic running:
But the diesel offering is not good enough yet for me.
