Re: North East Victoria Railway
that is interesting, Ive never had an issue with it distorting like that on the 4 wheelers apart from when i left the paint drying on it in the 42 degree heat outside! ive seen it happen on my TGR Y class but that was a different issue i think.
Re: North East Victoria Railway
Sorry, I think I wasn't clear. I meant that the print bows inwards as it deposits the layers. ie each layer is minutely offset inwards. It is probably a combination of speed/temperature/layer height and who knows what else, in my settings.

Re: North East Victoria Railway
well I finished the model of the VA for my grandfather, its static but he was pretty stoked with it! Like the one he built its still missing cowcatcher, lights, stack and it has the wrong cab but thats fine my running ones will have all that added

Re: North East Victoria Railway
Couple of photos from the weekend taken on my phone, ill post the professional quality photos by the others soon hopefully
Cheers to the regulars for coming
D1 sits on the outer leg of the wye waiting for the M car to pass
turning its ore train around a bit later
ESET's open wagon deputises as the bar car. The preservation society has loaded a surplus Melbourne W6 to take with them back to the museum for restoration although their hopes have been dashed and this one will likely make its way to bedigo to rebuilt to W8 spec. Those with a keen eye may notice why!
Its not confirmed yet but D1 may yet become E1! I have made a sister engine with exactly the same length but as a steeple cab and as a joke I placed its pantograph ontop. This may have been a mistake as I'm now rather fond of it, luckily I know someone that can build me another pantograph...
Cheers to the regulars for coming

Re: North East Victoria Railway
I haven't really got anything to report lifes been getting in the way. Regardless heres some photos from a run day a few weeks ago featuring the first ever live steam to ever visit the railway. the photos also show the largest engine to ever visit the line. This hulking bachmann 2-8-0 is owned by a friend with battery power and sound and made quite the impression, so much so that when the owner indicated he wanted to sell his other one it was quickly snapped up by the Dad despite being the wrong scale and faaaaaaaaaar too large!
the scale difference is very apparent here Cooltrains Roundhouse billy no doubt people are becoming familiar with this stalwart
Regards
Jake

Might be bigger Jake, but it's a great looking Loco though.

Need to put them both on the full size VA at Queenscliff and then we can have VA-inceptionTropic Blunder wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 3:54 am added51112739_2071598616254951_7495915561675653120_n.jpg51228068_213604596160675_2184546127682994176_n.jpg
That Roundhouse Billy looks familiar...
"So what's yer name?" asked the driver.
"Charlie, sir."
"I don't address my firemen by their Christian names, son. Give me your surname."
"Darling, sir."
"Okay, Charlie, start shoveling."

Re: North East Victoria Railway
Cant disagree with you there Rod! It wont enter traffic for quite a while theres quite the backlog of RC installations before it gets it spot in the queue.
yeah funny that if you can lift the 7 1/4 one i tip my hat to you, it'd weigh almost as much as the pig I reckon...

I know what you mean about queues Jake. I have so much to do. Think that's the main problem with our scale of modelling, there's always something to do.Tropic Blunder wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 10:43 am Cant disagree with you there Rod! Re: North East Victoria Railway
There hasnt been much news on the garden railway lately, shortly after I made my last post I was involved in a 5 car accident and thus chasing insurance has become my new hobby . That said I came across a pair of large Radius LGB points which has given me a nice long storage siding near the balcony and a new 7 car long passing loop at the top of the line which will complete trackwork for the time being. Next I'll be focusing on buildings and rebuilding the elevated section of line with actual trestle bents instead of the current arrangement which was just so I could get some operation happening. I'm looking forward to the classic Melbourne weather settling in over the next few months it usually proves to be quite productive being forced into the shed!
Those hideous passenger cars got a repaint, still lots more to do.
Originally I bought the Van to build my self a copy of Rurr Valley Railways EEP8 (An absolutely incredible garden railway that used to exist in Sydney, protofreelanced based on the mount Lyell railway. Very much a ground breaking line and a big influence on my interests growing up) but I decided I'd be better off scratch building as barely anything survives of the original van in the bash
TGR Y class print, this thing has been a nightmare but it keeps inching forward.
The Y class again and the DH in the initial stages of being filled and primed. Im hoping to have pics of the mk2 W6 Melbourne Tram this weekend but we'll see!

Re: North East Victoria Railway
great work mate, looking great, thinking about printing a Thingyverse NSWGR signal box like the one you did soon if i can scale it up to 1:19 for my tramway to act as another building on my platform.

Re: North East Victoria Railway
The much needed track modification has finally happened! Quite a bit of earthworks has been done which means ill need to replant and start building buildings but progress is progress.
The bottom shelf has been cleaned up and skips have been spotted ready to start fill works, the W&W managers new Ford can be seen parked on the right overseeing operations The railways D8H has been railed in sans blade ready for work A few days later and filling operations have been successful. The dozer is tidying up the last bits of ground ready for the station platform and buildings to be constructed A final view of the new upper terminus

Looking good so far, Jake. Looking forward to seing the station with buildings now.

Re: North East Victoria Railway
That's looking very good - I like the work in progress shots with works trains and tippers etc too.
Those chunky diesels from your previous post too, very impressive!
It was nice to be reminded of the Rurr Valley line as well, thank you. I'd forgotten all about it, but I used to follow its progress regularly via the builder's excellent blog posts, and I liked it very much. I can really see the influence in your line, from the sense of purpose in operations to look and construction of the locos and stock...
Cheers,
Andrew
