B@&&*Y Internet
I am finally back on line after losing my internet signal in early Jan.
I am with BT and I have had a intermittent problem for months, after two engineers visits to the house and several "we have sent a bloke to check the box in the village" events. I have been sent a new Smart Hub.
Surprise, surprise it all works again.
I asked for a new hub in November only to be told, "It won't be the hub"
Time for a full and frank discussion with my BT 'case manager'..........

Re: B@&&*Y Internet
I talked daily for several months to BT call center employees in India about an internet connection that wasn't working properly. The read the same script every time and refused to send an engineer. I cancelled the subscription and we moved house. Much to my surprise two engineers arrived at the new house to sort out the connection - they had been told we were moving and taking the line with us. One hour later a Virgin engineer (our new provider) turned up and installed their kit. BT still holds the record for worst customer service I have ever encountered.

I always use online chat now with anything like this as trying to call a call centre and get what you want always end up coming off the phone pissed off and achieving nothing!

4G on your phone or hotspot it so you can use your computer.
BT have hundreds of free Wi-Fi locations as well providing you are a customer.
Other ISP's provide similar schemes, worth checking.

It was pre-4G in my case.

Also presumes you have a mobile phone, which I don't. Never seen the need for one, personally. Best thing about retiring was getting rid of the company mobile.tom_tom_go wrote: ↑Wed Jan 30, 2019 4:45 pm 4G on your phone or hotspot it so you can use your computer.

Mobile internet is iffy to say the least in my part of Wales and while I did make the most of the local pubs Wi-Fi for answering emails on my phone when the 4g was not good enough it wasn't ideal. Mind you, it did give me an excuse to pop in for a pint...
The whole experiance did have its plus points though. Anything that was urgent I dealt with, but all the banal rubbish could be sorted by saying, "Sorry no internet"

Re: B@&&*Y Internet
My sister used to work for BT in one of the call centres (no they aren't all in India), which has proven extremely useful when we've had problems as she knows all of the direct numbers to get you to the department you actually want to talk to... Result was a failed hub (which had never worked properly from delivery) getting replaced within a couple of days.
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."
