Disguising unwanted backgrounds
Disguising unwanted backgrounds
Picking up on an earlier topic, thanks to a suggestion from @BorisSpencer of this parish, I have now invested in some camouflage netting bought cheaply (£15) on a well known auction website. What do you think?

Re: Disguising unwanted backgrounds
I had to zoom in on the picture to see the netting so it's done the job.
Re: Disguising unwanted backgrounds
Looks good to me Rik. Like Tom I couldn't see the net.
Are you planning to leave it there permanently or just erect it for photo's?

Personally, I like how it looks. Seems to be a good way to screen things you don't want appearing in a photo, that are to close to the track to block out with plants.
The background blends in better than I'd have expected and you don't get the line around edges that you can get using software.
Regards,
Graeme

Re: Disguising unwanted backgrounds
What an amazing difference for a very reasonable outlay.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: Disguising unwanted backgrounds
A bit of both. I'm leaving it on the back fence, but might move it to other places if I want to mask other unsightly bits of the house or garden.
It's 5m x 3m so potentially will cover most sins - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282897969778 . Looks like they've increased the price by 50p since I bought mine.

If you hadn't posted the first photo and only the second... I'd likely not have noticed it. Well done sir.

Re: Disguising unwanted backgrounds
Great idea Rik. I've ordered some camouflage netting too.

Clever, I like it!
Amazing how the trained garden railway eye blots out sheds, fences etc. Must be why I can never find anything at B&Q...
Thanks for the idea,
Andrew.

Thats me diving into the back of the shed tomorrow to see if I still have my old camo netting!
Where did I put that uncoupler?
Re: Disguising unwanted backgrounds
Chances are, even if it is there, you won't be able to see it .......

Just discovered this freebie online tool (called Rasterbator - unfortunate name, but probably deliberately chosen by some witty programmer) which enables you to take an image and then print it out as a series of A4 sheets which can then be pasted together to make a large poster. Might be useful if you want to see what an image will look like before forking out for a Vinyl banner.

Hmmm, and I see at the bottom of the page that it was "Developed with love, by...."!
Good find though Rik, thanks.

Re: Disguising unwanted backgrounds
For those who may be puzzled why I am referring to printed banners - it's with reference to another thread - https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic ... 3&start=15 - in which Gregh is considering having a vinyl banner printed with a backscene.
Sorry about any confusion
