Good to see manufacturers communicating to reduce competition. Makes the hobby much nicer when everyone is trying to stay away from repeating another's products.

With just over a week to go until Peterborough (Stand G2 next to Roundhouse in case you're wondering!), time to reveal the prototypes of our new Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad Freight Stock. We have a range of 4 Boxcars, 3 Flat cars and 3 Cabooses which should allow a range of different trains to be run. Passenger stock will follow at a later date. Each kit as is standard with our range comes with bogies in the gauge of your choice (32mm or 45mm) and Accucraft Chopper Couplings. The kits are of course available without those items. All kits include postage to Mainland UK only with postage elsewhere at cost.

The prices are as follows:-

Flat Cars:- £70
Box Cars:- £80
Cabooses:- £90

You will be able to order these at the show or from our website a couple of days before the show. Not the images shown below do not represent the whole range, there is a lot more that will also be released at the same time!

Those new releases look really good. Whilst not suitable for my requirements I am sure they will do well for you.

Can we have more detailed pictures of the flat car please as trying to understand why it costs £70.

Does it have detailing we cannot see?

Unfortunately, those cars are not cheap to produce either! Without giving too much away, just on Bogies and Couplings alone our bill is £31.50 per kit. That's before we even start taking into account the actual laser cut components and all the other costs involved which is strictly commercially sensitive information. The price is still pending any changes we want to make so it may come down. We're taking all feedback received so far and will be making final decisions just before Peterborough.

Hi Jon,
Just a quick one; have you looked at the possibility of making WHR carriage 1001? This is ex C&U so would be a "duel range" kit that you could provide? I know it also ran on the W&L so it could appease them as well?

Hi,

Been asked a few times about this. In theory, yes. In practice, it's unlikely. Lack of drawings is the main issue. Anyone knows where I can get some, then we'll see.

Yes. They keep getting pushed back as other projects are released first but we have a fixed plan now which will cover us until October next year. They are coming and we will provide further information when appropriate.

Bowaters Models has the opportunity to have a batch of our BME-001 'The Tank' Battery Electrics built Ready to Run. The cost of these will be £350 per engine painted Brunswick Green as per the Prototype. The engine will be available in either 32mm or 45mm gauge wheels (non-regaugeable) and Accucraft Chopper Couplings. The engine will come equipped with a 9v Battery Pack, Deltang Radio Control and a suitable Radio controller.

If you are interested in one, please e-mail us at info@bowatersmodels.co.uk to secure your interest. The initial batch will only be 5 models and is unlikely to be repeated at the present time.

One of the major comments we got at Llanfair was as lovely as our WHR coaches were, was they were just too big for most of the people we spoke too's lines. After some quick thinking, we've decided to offer 3 shorter coaches. Same design and outline but smaller. Assigned BMH-101 to BMH-103, all 3 are shortened versions of 2020, 2040 and 2090. To shorten them, we have taken 2 seating blocks from 2020 and 2040 with the service car area removed from 2090. These coaches are now 432mm long compared to the 600mm of the normal coaches. Ironically, there is technically a prototype for them. The Usui Pass Railway Culture Village in Japan has 3 WHR style coaches which are all shorter than the WHR fleet. Not surprising as they were built by the same people who built the original 6 WHR coaches.

Image

Pricing is to be confirmed but we estimate it will be around the price of our normal FR coaches.

Hi John,
Saw on facebook you were asking for "expression of interest" for Glaslyn. I'd like to express my interest for this or the next Pullman currently under construction.

Hi,

That has been noted! In fact its just taken the number to the minimum required so this project is a go! Bodysgallen should be on show at Exeter (fingers crossed!).

Awesome!

The other Pullman is currently under construction and will be based on the FR Pullmans. This might be easier to make?

Image
BMH-003 Welsh Highland Railway Coach 2042 - £110 in MDF or £140 in Plywood.

Image
BMH-008 Welsh Highland Railway Brake Coach 2091 - £110 in MDF or £140 in Plywood.

All coaches are available in both 32mm gauge and 45mm gauge coming complete with Accucraft Chopper Couplings. They are also available without these for £30 less. Please note, These are not complete kits nor are they marketed as such, they are what we call advanced Scratch Aids same with the rest of our range. If you choose to, you can build the coaches as they are in the kit and we can promise you-you'll be happy with the results. Alternatively, you can convert the basic kit into your dream model with a little extra work.

Newly revealed at the Exeter Garden Railway Show!!!!

We're also pleased to reveal the new shorter WHR coach for the first time! Priced at just £90 a coach in MDF, these will be available at the National Garden Railway Show at Peterborough next year along with the remaining Welsh Highland Railway 13m Coaches. Glaslyn is due in a years time all being well.

Looks good Jon, will definitely be getting a rake after the Ffestiniog rake!
Seen the latest on Pullman observation 2152; looks to be similar in style to 150/152. Not sure if this will be easier than Glaslyn?
