Re: Archangel Range
Attractive model, to my eyes they looked far better this way, than with the extra width to the tanks, and as for the enormous air pump well enough said.

Re: Archangel Range
Picked up this on ebay as a non working wreck a 1976 Archangel Princess , just finished restoring it, have made a couple of minor cosmetic changes and boxed in the side tanks and moved them out as per the 1980's version, made new one piece footplate, made one new buffer beam and reinstated the buffers, new smokebox door, new cab rear, new whistle and control valve, new dome support ,moved the dummy cylinders in slightly so the geometry is not so much at an angle, re-positioned the meths tank filler from out of the cab floor and finally new side tank hand rails.

Re: Archangel Range
No not all, I bought it for £560 I think I would struggle to get £800 for it.

Re: Archangel Range
Ooh I don't know, I would have a good long think at that price, (would sooner do up a £560 wreck though) its all got to be relative to what Stuart would charge for a new onecncmodeller wrote: ↑Sat Aug 18, 2018 9:48 pm No not all, I bought it for £560 I think I would struggle to get £800 for it.

What a wonderful job you've done! Does it work now? Have you tested it?

Yes works very well , it was a bit breezy and it made no difference to the steaming and the boiler lasted for three meths refills.
Re: Archangel Range
That is very nice. I do like the smaller and more simple archangel stuff.

Re: Archangel Range
After many years of wanting an Achangel engine I found this for sale at Bradford on Saturday on Simon's stand, love at first sight! Had it running on Saturday, went well and love the sound of the safety valve!

Re: Archangel Range
Looks original as far as I can tell, underneath is stamped 6 76, which I assume is 1976. I want to keep it looking just the same, lovely patina on her. The nameplate is a river at Blaenau Ffestiniog, not far from us here in sunny Rhos on Sea!
Re: Archangel Range
Having studied both restored and unrestored versions I am undecided as to which I prefer. Both have their respective merits and appeal. As long as they bring enjoyment to the owners I guess it doesn't really matter.

John, your restored engine looks fantastic! I was tempted to restore mine, but loving the aged look of her.
