Semi-scale BR: Summer Steam Gala!

Post by BertieB » Tue Aug 07, 2018 8:18 pm

Here’s another silly video. Can’t help it.

Best viewed, obviously, on your full-on home cinema set-up, with volume up.

Railways on this forum usually seem to be designed with a sophisticated take on their purpose, traffic and operating requirements, appropriate infrastructure, and the rest – but mine just goes round and round. It’s a bit more difficult constructing any narrative. One day though, the Atlantic Coast Express will hurtle past (every couple of minutes).

Shot mainly on an iPhone, with long lens stuff on the camera!

And yet you have great examples of detailed signals on your line ;)

I enjoy watching what you have done so keep them coming...

This is fantastic, I love the whole semi-scale "aesthetic" you've created, it really works. The engines are beauties, but that rake of carriages and the DMU are lovely too.

I shouldn't worry about a narrative - it's just a stretch of mainline (North Devon? Cornwall?), no back-story required! Looking forward to seeing the ACE make its appearance - behind a semi-scale "spamcan"??

All the best,

Andrew.

That’s very generous, Andrew. Thank you. It’s just fun. After all, the video includes Playmobil!

Sadly, a Light Pacific probably wouldn’t get round (my) corners - it’s not so much the wheelbase (though that’s bad enough) it’s the overhangs (throwover? Is that a word?). Fortunately he (Bulleid) also had other provocative, unfulfilled ideas...

And thank you all for your kind comments. Cheers me up.

Great video. Some very nice editing, especially in the intro. My favourite bit is the catrobatics.......
Oh and the trains are quite nice too ;)

ge_rik, markoteal - Chuffed by your response to the editing. Thank you very much!

The cat has a complex and confused relationship with the trains in her back garden. She can go to great lengths to sneak up on them. Once she leapt out and ‘punched’ the passing Bulleid experimental locomotive. Make of that what you will.
