I've been away too long! Your railway's changed scale, and is looking absolutely fantastic. I need to read the thread more fully, but a quick skim's rewarded me with pictures of characterful buildings (I must have a go at some myself...), and some lovely rolling stock. I do find the bucolic world of 7/8ths very tempting...

Can I ask how do you cut baked bean or similar cans please, without cutting yourself to pieces…..

Bake bean cans roof will rust well outside but if you don't want it to go too rusty wait until it goes the colour you want and then lacquer the crap out of it.

Have to say the only time I tried bean cans I ended up with a deep cut! They do look good though.

Thanks Andrew, not a patch on Windmill Hill I fell in love with 7/8th after Chris Bird posted some pictures of Rob Bennett's line. My track circuit is small and 45mm gauge so 16mm skips looked too broad gauge hence the switch. The fact you have to build almost everything is a bonus. I have mentally rewritten the lines history just need to get the words down.

Played with the addictive nail gun today and cobbled a small coaling drop together, for nothing.

Not my design I'm afraid. Dolls house 1/12 so slightly overcame but ok for me. I'm slowly cutting handles in the ends, adding weathering and Fairway Estate lettering with a cheap john Bull type printing set.

Thanks. One of my lineside 'industries' is soft fruit, so looking for a suitable source of wooden cases. Will investigate.

In between running a 16mm jumble sale I have had a play with an lgb feldbahn crane. Thought about car booting it but decided a repaint and a wooden deck might help it fit in on the estate.
Probably looks like no crane on earth but fits in ok...I think.

Trenarren also do them - can vouch for their suitcases and have a long term plan for some fruit workings on my line too!
