Sad demise of the ACLR

Post by ACLR » Sun Dec 21, 2008 7:05 pm

Sadly the ACLR will be dismantled in early 2009. as we will be moving to a new location about 60 miles southwest of here into retirement.
It will be a sad day when I have to lift up the rails and level the backyard .
I will build a new Railway in our new location

"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

That is indeed sad news Graham.

And like ratty says, I'm sure you already have plans for your new line.

I hope you enjoy your retirement!

I know what it is like Graham, I had to do the same with my old line, it was hard to look at the empty ground where the track had stood for 10 years, remembering all the hard work that went into building it and the fun days of running trains. But it was also kind of exciting to have a chance at building a new line.

Congratulations on your retirement, I'm looking forward to mine in approx.1½ years from now !
John.

:( Always sad to hear a line has come to its end but as others have said there is a veritable excitement about planning and building a NEW Line using the experience of the past to make it an even better one.

Enjoy your retirement I too am looking forward to mine, only about 22 years to go, also looking forward to saying bye bye mortgage only 9 years to go and celebrate with a VOR or some such Loco lol

All the Best from the Management and Crew of the LMS ;)
