Re: Otto bash
Great loco Rik. I would like to clone your railway and somehow squeeze it into my smaller garden!

Re: Otto bash
Looks right at home on your railway Rik, another video triumph too..... beautiful framing for the shots.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: Otto bash
The engine certainly looks right at home on your railway Rik, particularly in the copper mine sidings. Another great bash and a superb video.

Re: Otto bash
Thanks folks. It's very gratifying to get such feedback.
I bodge together these locos and things largely for my own amusement but, through my blog and posts on the forum, hope it might encourage others to have a go. I like to think that my modelling is generally 'kitchen table' style - a few basic tools and materials, plus odds and ends from what Cyril Freezer et al used to call the 'bits box'. My mechanisms are generally recycled from cheap secondhand off shelf models picked up on eBay and so, not including labour, each loco costs around Β£100 - Β£150, including the radio control and sound, or around Β£50-Β£60 for the basic loco. Of course, I could do it more cheaply if I made my own mechanisms and chassis, but I know my limitations.

Re: Otto bash
As the others have said, great loco and you do provide inspiration for others - me included!
Where did I put that uncoupler?
Re: Otto bash
And you increase my knowledge - just watching on the BBC iplayer the tv programme The golden Age of Steam Railways - episode 1 which is about the early preservation days on Talyllyn and Ffestiniog and lo and behold what comes up in the opening sequence at 15 secs but your loco
There is a short clip of it in action - spooky as it came up as I was writing the previous post!
PS - if anyone hasn't watch this programme, its great - first class inspiration for those of us 'narrow minded' people

Re: Otto bash
Seen this the other night on BBC4, it was on last year as well. I did say to Anne that a guy was building one just like that and he has done a brilliant job on it.
The program itself is brilliant too, itβs well worth watching again.

Re: Otto bash
I've seen that programme a couple of times and forgotten there's a clip of this loco (or her twin). Thanks for the reminder.

Hi Jim
I'm in the process of writing up a more detailed account of the build on my blog. Hopefully will post that in the next few days.
