Post by pauly » Mon Nov 24, 2008 7:51 pm

I am very happy to see these 2 come back into production as I almost bought 1 but was downtrodden when I was told they had just stopped producing them.

 Smith and Harrison Engineering
We are pleased to announce the reintroduction of these superbly engineered models, Scarab and Hurricane, from Smith and Harrison.

Order yours now, and get Scarab in time for Christmas!

Coming soon! (early Dec 2008) Scarab
battery operated, dual gauge, manual control £385

Coming soon! (early 2009) Hurricane
battery operated, dual gauge, manual control £395

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drawing on a number of years' experience in the field, Smith & Harrison Engineering specialise in producing highly detailed and reliable battery-powered models for 16mm garden railways.

All of the models are constructed from high quality materials to give maximum durability and reliability. These include brass etched bodies and laser cut steel frames to ensure fine detail and strength. They are given an extensive test run to ensure that you receive an engine that will run 'straight from the box', and give hours of pleasure. Locomotives are available in various colour schemes and are supplied dual gauge. They include batteries and a suitable charger.

Nearly £400 for a battery operated, manual control shunter???

Am I missing something? If so, what is so special about these that they cost that much?

well they are (used to be) made in small batches and from the review I read on them they are well worth the money.

I must agree that, it'd be cheaper to buy an I.P Engineering shunter. Personally I'd rather pour money in to a hole from which a large strong mainline loco would appear.

I have the badge, which somone bought me at Railfest!! The only impresive thing is that they did use it at highspeed and nothing fell off.

exactly, because ITS BRAND NEW... therefore probably one of the reasons why they did it - to use at high speed on mainline...

anyway, where's the 'off topid' symbol gone.. . ..

Just saw that the Locobox Isabel has been taken off from the list on the PPS website. I hope locobox manages to do something with those locos and manage to relaunch them in a modified form.
