Good video Simon. Has that loco had a repaint since I last saw it?

That was wonderful, the steam plume produced on a cold day really makes this hobby worthwhile, the loco is lovely, and has a really good chuff. I am guessing by the way the steam shoots straight up from the chimney, that the exhaust pipe is open at the end, if so, how do you get such a pronounced chuff ? or is that a secret? :D
I have been experimenting with chuff pipes, but the ones that produce a good chuff are closed at the top of the pipe, so the steam does not "shoot up" out of the chimney. The ones that are open at the end do not produce a loud chuff... I am getting frustrated

We decided not to fit a chuff pipe to that one (to difficult). All it is a straight pipe which is crushed partially at the end. The end is central in the smoke box so it echos.

Thanks for the info, the exhaust on my Mamods were done like that, and they sounded quite good. I treid the same on the Hercules loco, but that did not make any noticable improvement, but I am still working on it !

Thats where we got the idea of the mamods. It is the first big loco to work with that type of exahust. All the rest we just make chuff pipes for.
