Does anyone know where I can get railway sleepers in large numbers?

Builders Mercheants I think, there seems to be a never ending supply on eBay.

If you mean proper ones that is.

If you have the tools.
Go to the nearest railway at night, and take a few sleepers ;)

We ain't allowed to use wooden railway sleepers anymore due to EU regulations :(

4 years ago we nearly bought 20 wooden sleepers for the danish equivalent of £250 (including delivery), we were going to break the rules, but had to drop the deal due to the fact that the water we drink is pumped up from under our garden, so it was not worth the risk of at a later stage having to pay a fine for breaking the law and pay to have polluted earth removed from the garden replaced with new earth, and also risk being prosecuted for polluting the local water supply.
