PPS steam and Back2Bay6

Post by Rob » Thu Jun 02, 2016 11:46 am

Hi all,

I've had a few years off from garden railways and now looking to get back into it.

Since looking at previous websites which I use to use, the 2 titled above have since ceased.

I think I'm right in saying that Roy Wood now deals with the PPS bits, but what I'm after is the driver figures that they use to stock. Does anyone know if they are still available and who from?

Also I read on here that the owner of Back2Bay6 sadly passed away. Has anyone taken over the business as I always wanted a lister loco kit and some of the superb buildings he use to make.

If anyone can shed light on either of my queries it would be very much appreciated.

Once I have my railway back up and running I hope to share a few pictures on here aswel.

Hi Rob, welcome back. I'm sure much has altered in the intervening years and like you, I am still finding my way around suppliers.
I can't give you any information on the particular ones you mention but naturally there are alternatives available.
Firstly, a new company providing figures made by 3D printing has appeared and I have bought all four of the driver figures advertised. They are very good and require little in the way of preparation for paint. Price is competitive too! Google...... designscanprint3D for details.
Also, there are very good buildings available from Cain Howley although they are cast concrete and therefore heavy. I have no idea where you are based but the best way to purchase these would be from exhibitions.
Cain has recently taken his website off line but I know him and can let you have more information if you are interested.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

I also have wondered about bits and parts from PPS.

When I started with garden railway 5 years ago, I did find some nice headlamps from PPS, that fits perfect to my RH Billy.

Is there anyone here who knows if these nice brass headlamps still are for sale? My RH Silver Lady want a pair of these. :D

Hello Rob,

Welcome back to Garden Railways.

PPS Steam - Roy Wood only took over the Janet & De Winton (plus associated Mamod/MSS bits). As I recall the rest was sold to Anything Narrow Gauge. The P & J People ( https://web.archive.org/web/20060101051 ... els.co.uk/ ) are now made by Trenarren Models - http://trenarrenmodels.co.uk/catalogue.html (scroll down to Perfect People).

Back2Bay6 - Unfortunately the business was not sold on, and the shop contents are slowly being sold off on eBay by a family member using 2 Seller accounts. No Lister kits, but been a couple of resin building kits recently.

IP Engineering produces 3 Lister kits - http://www.ipengineering.co.uk/page40.html

Cannot help with the PPS ones, but I'm sure you are aware that Regner produce something similar - http://www.regner-dampftechnik.de/onlin ... /bk_65.pdf

Many thanks for the replies guys.

Chris, I think those figures are the ones I was after.

Do you know of a contact for the Back2Bay6 people selling bits off?
