Based on the double pack of Binnie bolsters that they sell for bogies I fancied something a little different in the way of a tipper truck for the quarry. I had been planning on making some Ruston tippers (and probably will eventually) but a chance observation when we bought some discount fairy cakes from Tesco's resulted in these....
As I already had the 2mm plastic sheet and paint from the little mine trucks I'm making the two tippers cost a total of £11.70 and because the cakes were 3 for 2 I still have a tipper bucket spare.
They still need a little bit of paint work and then I might try my hand at weathering them.

They don't look a million miles away from the slag ladles that are used in steel works. Nice job.

Well that's not very nice, I thought, until I reread it and saw that it says ladles, and not ladies

Thanks for the nice comments
We have friends who live the other side of Scunthorpe so go past the steel works every so often, it's possible the slag ladle they have by the road there crept into my subconscious.
The mine at the far end of the railway is to be limestone and ironstone (in keeping with the original Lincoln quarries and mines) so perhaps there is a hidden feeder branch off to a steel works and they 'borrowed' some slag ladles

It's nice to see that - back in the day, when there wasn't a lot of kits for stock, we used to keep our eyes open for such things as this to make little wagons.
If you're coming to Peterborough, bring one to stand on a sheet of A4 paper with a little write-up and put it on the Show 'n Tell table on Budget Boulevard!

Sadly I won't be able to attend this year, I have the joy of taking our toddlers to a party and have been told by SWMBO that I'm not allowed to persuade the toddler that he'd rather go to the show.
If Budget Boulevard is still in existence next year I'd be happy to bring it along for show and tell

In the meantime, write 'em up for SMT - it'll make a nice page!

LOL - I also read it that way as well on first pass - I then blinked and re-read!
Where did I put that uncoupler?
