Weathering

Post by TheChestnutLine » Tue Dec 08, 2015 12:19 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm wanting to have a go at some weathering on my models and wondered if anyone could recommend some good weathering publications for garden railway scale? I've seen a few hornby weathering magazines and I would guess the same techniques would apply for larger scale? If anyone could recommend anything that would be great!

Thank you
James

They're not books, but you might find these videos useful, from the series that Ian Stock did. In these he interviews Andy Coward about his techniques:

I think the weathering techniques I use are largely pinched from indoor scales - a combination of washes and dry brushing.

Cheers,

Andrew.

I recommend this book:

http://britishrailwaybooks.co.uk/books/ ... 103119.php

BUT, you can only learn your own style by experimenting so paint a model up as new and then make it look like it has worked for a living!
