Is there any truth in the rumour that he has stayed on in Lincolnshire, having been co-opted onto inspection of the GN/GE joint line resignalling, resulting from the brief interest he showed at Sleaford North?

It appears that he may have retired. However should he wish to supplement his pension with a bit more work, I am sure it could be found for him.
If anyone has a forwarding address or feels that gainful employment might provide a welcome relief from growing daliahs and bingo at the Darby and Joan club please let one of the moderators know.

I'm not sure he retired, I think MIA is more appropriate, or possibly simply skived off when nobody was looking. I do think he should be winkled out from wherever he is ( Last seen in Lincolnshire I believe?) and put back to work PDQ.

Has there been any news from Mr Isle at all in the last 7 years? Echoing Narrow Minded’s comments a decade ago, this does seem an unfortunate end to a brilliant project. However, if there is some other factor I was unaware of then please do enlighten me.

Hello!

Victor went AWOL some years ago (I seem to recall his head fell off, at least once), but his place at whatever Department, Board or Quango he represented was taken by the equally fearsome I.N.Spectre, see https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic ... inspection

Mr Spectre has also been somewhat absent of late, possibly connected to his preference for visiting railways with a hostelry or two in the vicinity...

Should Victor, given this, be relieved of his duty within the DfMT? I believe it would be appropriate to do so, and so bring in a new inspector, this time with a permanent home where he can trainspot, er, inspect the local line? I would be willing to provide a new inspector, with a summer home overlooking my own line in Ireland, and a more permanent offices at a British line could surely be arranged. Victor can have an unimportant clerk job so he doesn't kick up a fuss about being unemployed if he ever is rediscovered.

As Andrew said earlier, Victor Isles is dead and buried and has been for quite a few years and we don't know where his body lies ( in a landfill somewhere via someone's domestic waste, is my guess. ).

His successor, Mr I. N. Spectre, has been globe trotting in the last few years, having been to Russia and Australia as well as the UK, as detailed in the thread that Andrew linked to. He also disappeared at the beginning of this year. Fortunately he had a 2nd in command, a French chap by the name of M. L. E. DePuty. He is hopefully going to do an inspection in Germany in the not to distant future ( Scrat??) and then has at least one appointment in the US, to follow.
