Hi All, I know somemember has done it but cant find out how to make a decent looking coal load to go in my MSS tender.

a piece of plasticard with gravel stuck on and spray painted black works well Im told.
A steam propelled life-style.

I used some small gravel I found and stuck it to a plastikard base and sprayed it black. Looks effective if the gravel isn't rounded.

black aquarium filter charcole doesit for me stick it onto some expanded foam (the stuf they use for packing electronic equipment in) glue on with pvc glue and spray the whole lot black

cheers guys, Will probably mix and match the ideas and see how it goes.
was going to cut a block of polystyrene to size cover it in fine aquarium gravel spray black!

I just use coal, it has a texture you can't replicate.

We have a tipper wagon full of stale coal in the quarry! Will rob some of that on sunday before i go off to play trains!
