Best books to get

Post by Joe » Sun Mar 22, 2015 7:57 pm

Hi I was wondering if any of you knew of any good books for live steam loco building/repairing; scenery and books about model buildings. Because at the moment i have none and only the 16mm mags for inspiration
cheers

any book by peter jones. always a good good read, the 2 main ones are practical garden railways and building small steam locomotives.

Other than that any book you can get your hands is always good

Tag Gortens 'Steaming in your garden'

Have a look at Atlantic Publishers website to see what else is about.

If you can find a copy, A Passion for Steam by Marc Horovitz is excellent.

Well ive just received Peter jones "building small steam locomotives" and its a cracking book which is just right for beginners with a bit of knowledge on locos. I spent a good three hours looking through it today and its inspired me to have a go at making a very basic live steamer using mamod /RWM parts , thanks for advice over time i will buy the other locos you all recommended.
