jacksons minatures peterchurch station

Post by jim@NAL » Sun Sep 30, 2012 2:15 pm

on friday i got a little parcel through the post. jacksons minatures station, i've put the station together and its a nice little kit made out of moisture resitant mdf .this mdf is very good stuff; im a carpenter and have used this to made bath pannals etc in the past and it should last a long long time even if it does get socking wet. i've screwed it together and gule guned the inside joints to help hold it all togeter. i've modified the kit and cut off one of the lean too ends to make it look a little diffrent . im using manaco brick slips to cover the station. these are tiny and are guled on with pva. i found it easier to put them on and then move the bricksvwith a sharp pencel. i marked where the doors and windows are and started under the windows. iv put a few lines on to guide me but am mostly doing it by eye. hopefuly it will give a very realistic effect. i also have tiles for the roof that i will put on after.

A very real exercise in patience, but your station is going to look great when you've completed all that brick and tile laying.

My word those tiles look good. That would have to be about the best looking roof I've seen on a model building for a long time.

Hi Jim,

Where are the slates from for the roof? How did you fix them to the model and how has that faired in the weather?

It withered? Ermmmmmm, you may have followed the instructions wrong...
"So, when is this newfangled railway coming?"
"When we have enough money..."
"Where is this money coming from?"
"Havent thought that far..."

Very impressive, have you got a picture of it in situ? how did you make it look like there is cement between the bricks?
