CMES Santa Special photographs.

Hi,

Yesterday the CMES held their Santa Special. The day was clear but very cold and a bit windy. Most of the garden railway stock was intended to appeal to the youngsters attending the event.

That looks like a great day out.... only wish I'd known beforehand!
Never mind, there's always next year!
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

Hi Peter,

That looks like a great day out.... only wish I'd known beforehand!
Never mind, there's always next year!

You would have been more than welcome. Our next play day is the first of January if you fancy it. We are away in West Wales over Christmas but will be back by the 30th. Following is what will appear in the next edition of 16MM Today and if anyone would like to visit please contact me. There are other members play days which invited people can attend which aren't listed and I won't know until next year, so if anyone is interested in visiting other than on open days then contact me later for dates.

The group usually meets on Wednesday evenings most weeks the Cardiff Model Engineering Club’s site at Heath Park in Cardiff, where a garden railway has been constructed. The track consists of two 150-foot long circuits one of which is dual G1/G0 gauge. The dual gauge points used on the outer circuit were designed and made at the club and allow for the use of wheel sets with different gauge standards. If anyone would like to visit and play trains or join the group it could be done on any of the public opendays listed below. Other dates can be arranged by contacting:
Tony Bird. Tel. 029 20 75 83 84. Email gaynorandtony@btinternet.com

A good time to visit is Saturday and Sunday 6th & 7th. June 2015 when the 25th Welsh Locomotive Rally will be held. These aren’t public open days so please phone or email if you wish to visit with or without stock.

The CMES has as well as the Garden Railway other attractions, an 18” gauge electric tramway, raised and ground level tracks catering for 3.5”, 5” and 7.25” gauge model locomotives. There is also a large ‘00’-gauge layout in the clubhouse where refreshments are also available.

Hi Brian,

Where did the CUTE little Peppa Pig train come from?

A child's toy bought in a charity shop fitted with a chassis using Binnie wheels and a can motor.

Regards Tony
