Summertime, and your printer's seem idle?

Post by Phil.P » Fri May 13, 2022 12:00 pm

Not really sure where to put this?
It could be a 'project', 'thing wanted', or several other threads. But as it involves 3D printing, here it is..

It would appear, that as the weather is getting better, your 3D printers are being moth-balled for the Summer?
Before you all throw a towel over them, I have a request:

Could some kind soul print me a Loco Remote 'Windy'?
The stl's are freely down loadable, and I would obviously pay for materials and postage.

Thanks for looking,
Phil Partridge.

Hi Phil
I'll give it a go. It might take me a couple of days to sort out. Just finishing off another print job and my daughter has suddenly decided to visit for the weekend so (for reasons only known to half the population - the other half that is), the house now needs to be deep cleaned and I need to be on call for the next 72 hours - I'm expecting any moment for a plea for the house to be completely redecorated in the coming 24 hours 😱

An idle printer, that's a sin right there, lol. My printers are only idle when they break down, lol.

If you get stuck for the Windy project just let me know and I will print you one off.

Rik, Steve, thank you!

I believe there are a couple of options to be decided?
Number of blades on the fan, and whether there is a seat(?)..

Send me a message, and we can discuss.

Thanks again,
Phil Partridge.

I've downloaded the files. Looks like there are only two variants - the prop and the seat. Neither takes too long to print so I'll print both sets of variants and you can decide which to use when you get them

Thank you Steve,

I am expecting to have to do some finishing..

I will have to find some Slaters wheels, to fit the Binnie chassis.

New propellers now finished, they are way better than the original set printed.

I will post up a picture of all printed items up soon.

Those black propellers look very good. How did you get them to print so cleanly? I tried using supports but mine turned out like your grey ones

Yes, I agree. I did look at the possibilty of volunteering when Phil first asked, but decided that the propellors would prove too difficult and kept my fingers off the keyboard.

Simple, I printed it without support on the flattest side. Tends to print better with no support than a huge area of support. I think they will sand down very nicely. :thumbleft:

Steve, Rik,

Many thanks for your efforts! - I did wonder if a propeller / fan would be awkward to print..

Quite a complex shape to draw.
Having messed with model planes, in a previous life, It will be interesting to see the result. :geek :geek

Thank you again! - Now all I will need to do, is finish them. :|
