Re: A wonderous little project
Well it's all taken apart now and in the paint shop. First layer of filler primer applied, looking ok so far. No photo, just have to take my word for it, lol.
Now, what colour, burgundy, brown or blue

Re: A wonderous little project
Funny you should say that, I got the ford burgundy red out earlier and gave it a first luck of paint. Wait for a couple of days, do it again, wait another couple of days and some satin lacquer. Then just rebuild it all again, lol

Good stuff. Are you enjoying better weather than here in the Northwest, or do you have a spraybooth of some description? (Although today has been almost spring like)

Re: A wonderous little project
I spray outside, but under a lean to type thing. It's been seriously nice weather today, sunny, warm..ish and not much wind. I got loads of bits sprayed up and even managed to do a load of "riveting" (stick on nail gems) to the Little Wonder today. All going well it should be finished within a couple of weeks or so, all going well.

Oh that's excellent. Whilst springlike up here today, there was still a keen, cold wind. Which is not unusual for spring here-steves- wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 5:45 pmI spray outside, but under a lean to type thing. Re: A wonderous little project
Got a little bit of paint on it now, clearly no where near finished but I thought I would post up a half way house picture of it. The lines don't look any where near as bad in real life, the camera has kindly picked them out for me
I am aware a few of the rivets need replacing / moving, but with around 600 rivets on it, I am in no rush to fix them until I have finished poking it and proding it while I rebuild it

Re: A wonderous little project
A bit more of an update, just the name plates, central brake handle, pressure gauge and cab panels and cab railings to complete it, maybe with a little extra bit here and there. Should be done within a week, all going well.

A couple more pictures from today. Yes, messy working area etc, but it gets tidied up each and every evening ready for the next day, lol

Well that's about it, other than a brake handle that's as much as I am doing on this, the brake handle will follow eventually, along with a fireman.

Simply superb, Steve. Very well done. She runs as well as she looks, as well.
Talking of running, what are the chassises? I don't think you mentioned the works under the bonnet?

Thanks Philip, I appreciate that. It took around 3 weeks to go from idea in a book to running today, quite pleased with that

Re: A wonderous little project - Completed with pics and a video
I have to make new bogies and they are of an entirely different design. I had to do this as literally everything was in different places so it was easier to start new than redesign what I already had. I just wish I had done the same on the new project I am working on for the cylinders
The new project will be known once I get a bit further on it, but suffice to say Accucraft do one of these, clearly theirs is brass and live steam and mine is 3D printed and electric . Hopefully It will resemble it if I do a good job as I am working from original photos so not the easiest thing to do
