Name Plates for my Double Fairlie

Post by -steves- » Sat Jun 19, 2021 7:24 pm

Today I took a little time and knocked up some name and work plates for the Double Fairlie. I know I am not the best with a tiny brush but the smaller letters are only about 1mm ! And yes, I broke one just before this photo, so tomorrow's job is to print some more and do some more painting, lol

I am sure they will will good at a distance once on the loco, about 100yards or more should do it

My etched brass ones came from a supplier's stock range of plates and are both identical.

Absolutely no idea, but I just like the idea of one in English and one in Welsh, just very typical of something they do. As I have to reprint them anyway, does anyone know if they are the same on both sides?

I just looked it up (again) and found that it might possibly be Merddin Emrys & Myrddin Emrys in English and Welsh anyway, lol. :P

Having done a bit more research I think it is Merddin Emrys on both sides

I tried them in the FDM printer first, that was a BIG no no, the works plates just came out blank as it couldn't print that small. A plus for the resin printer, it gives much much better detailing

Absolutely. I've tried fdm for loco plates and PRIVATE, etc, door signs in the past and it's a waste of time, whereas the resin gives almost perfect results.
