A big 'like' for the locos, the scenery and the action.
A huge 'love' for the background music.
Another triumph Rik, well done.

The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: 3D double diesel
That pair of locos match the hoppers very well Rik. You should be pretty happy with the final result.

Re: 3D double diesel
I agree, the loco(s) run very nicely and look really good with the hoppers.
I love the shot at the end where they are pulling in to the siding and you can just see the brake van in the distance at the RHS of the frame.

Rik,
I've just thought, you ought to post a "make" and link to this video on the Thingiverse page.

Rik, really love the end to end story, the early parts (buy the 3D printer etc) obviously detailed in other post and in your blog, but the whole just make a nice story
Re: 3D double diesel
Thanks Jim. Short and sweet was the aim....

Re: 3D double diesel
Rik,
Have you used actual AA's or are they Li-ion as you usually use?
I think you recommend Ecolux as a good battery supplier, but they do many brands, do you have a favourite brand, or just pick what seems good value from a trusted supplier?

Re: 3D double diesel
Hi Philip
I used two 14500 (AA sized) li-ion cells wired in parallel to give (nominally) twice the run time. Yes, they are from Ecolux and yes I go for the best value in terms of capacity and price. I do try sticking with recognised brands (eg Sony, LG, Panasonic) but don't really have a favourite. I can vouch for the quality of Norb's cells unlike others which can be bought on eBay for less but are not as reliable or deliver what they claim (eg I once bought what were advertised on eBay as 3200ah cells which actually ran for less than half the time they should have done). Needless to say one of these cells failed in less than a year.
So far, I've had no fails on cells from Ecolux, and they deliver what's claimed in terms of capacity.

Just read your post Rik, I'am sorry.
It amazes me how your skills develop to a level that is just brilliant in want you do and turn out such fantastic models, wether it be buildings or locos. I wish a had a modicum of your skills, then I would be in a truly superb world....

Re: 3D double diesel
Love what you've done with that printer, Rik. Another nice addition to your fleet.
I quite like that they're back-to-back; We also had a pair of cane locos running around that way on the local Moreton cane tramways, till the mill closed in '03.

Those (and similar) inspired my decision to couple them back to back.Old Man Aaron wrote: βSat Jun 27, 2020 5:28 am Love what you've done with that printer, Rik. Another nice addition to your fleet.

Re: 3D double diesel
A 'right rivettin' read' Rik, and 2 lovely locos. With the best will in the world, I don't seem to have enough hours in the day to drop in on the forum more regularly. But it's nice to be presented with threads like this one when I do.

Re: 3D double diesel
I thought you might like it Peter. It was on the shortlist as background music for your B.U.R.P.S. video. I forgot I'd downloaded it until I was looking for some music to fit this video. It seemed to match the subject well.

Re: 3D double diesel
I think all you need to do is go to the original Thingiverse file pages and click the "Post a make" link on the RHS to upload still pics. ( I guess you'd need to do it on both the original and 'Remake' pages?)
Not sure if it will let you upload the actual video but I think you can add the URL in the commenst section.
