Dec 2023 Gallery Entries CLOSES 1st DEC
Bertie has offered the theme for the next Gallery, and has chosen " Rural Backwater " as the subject.
Now, most of us model rural lines of one sort or another, so you should have no excuses for not submitting an entry!
Rules as always. Closing date for entries will be 1st December.

Fantastic, Andrew. I know here is not the place to discuss it, but are there thread/posts anywhere else on the forum where you discuss (a) how you rusted that tipper and (b) your approach to ballasting? Both looking phenomenal in this shot!
Re: December 2023 Gallery Entries thread
Glad you like 'em!
I waffle on about tipper rusting on my rolling stock thread, pages 14 and 33, plus a more general overview on p41. I've probably still just about got enough copper sulphate spare to send you some if you'd like it, just let me know. Some have turned out better than others, I fancy revisiting them at some point...
The ballasting is basically Peter's SBR technique, albeit with less subsequent maintenance! After several years it is beginning to weaken and come away in places - I'll need to do some re-ballasting in Spring, I think.

Andrew, can you tell this guy that the ‘thunder box’ should be inside the privy?

Short local freight train arrives in the middle of nowhere:
Driver and fireman are hidden behind the tender as they are preparing to take water.
They have just moved the water crane over.

That’s a remarkable picture, I think. The moss! Lovely.

Re: Dec 2023 Gallery Entries CLOSES 1st DEC
I'm stumped on this one so must give it a miss. However I will cast my vote when the time comes.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

Despite currently not having a railway I have decided to enter a photo, since there are only 5 entries.

Miles-- Trains are fun. With the exception of track power. Argh!

Here's Thornas with the full-service milk train:

There might not be many entries, but it's still an extremely tough choice this time.
