June 2022 Gallery - LAST TWO days for entries

Post by philipy » Thu Mar 24, 2022 12:42 pm

Ok, folks, the theme for this next quarter is:

"My favourite train"

Passenger, freight, mixed, speciality, whatever floats your boat...

Entries by 31st May, please. Rules as before.

Bavarian PtL 2/2 tram locomotive with a local passenger train.

The locos were called "Glaskasten [Glass Box]" due to their huge cab and big windows.
Designed for one-an operation the firing was by gravity.

The first wagon holds a small additional water tank.
Prototype is a "Kolonialwarenwagen" semi-covered goods van.
I squeezed it a bit in order to match the dimensions of the passenger cars.

Six passenger cars, mostly 2nd class, one 3rd class.
All differing in a few details, like they used to on the prototype line.

The little loco can pull a lot more than you would expect judging by its size.
Even passenger hauling is not problem.
A bit difficult to drive with about 3 litres od boiler capacity and a grate the size of a debit card.
Once you get used to it, it´s fun.
Twin-ram axle pump, Steam pume and Hand pump for water supply.
8 bars max boiler pressure.
Steel boiler with copper flues.

My ‘rusty’ train, kit built lady Anne ‘Rosie’ with a simply 7/8ths body pulling a mix of swift sixteen and binnie stock, all looking like they’ve seen better days!

This is my favourite train mainly because these Brandbright carriages were made the year before I actually started construction in the garden and so are some of the first 16mm vehicles I built and I have to say I think I made a good job of them! They make up a lovely looking train, and match nicely with my favourite engine, 'Lilla' and have a very typical narrow gauge branch line feel to them. They are also extremely good runners and are therefore the first choice vehicles if I want to run a passenger train. 8 years after building and goodness knows how many miles covered, they run perfectly and look like new,... :)

There is a satisfying drifting steam effect catching the light on this photo, which is a total fluke as I was juggling the RC transmitter and my phone to get the shot!

What a lovely looking engine! Some great entries so far, but Rosie has really caught my eye!

This is mine, though it's nothing compared to the one's already posted. My Billy pulling one of her coaches over the bridge.

Well 2 pics are allowed! :D Both good ones, although I'd say the 2nd photo perhaps suits the theme better, as in the first the train is rather overshadowed (literally!) by that superb bridge. If a "my favourite bridge" theme comes up you are on to a winner there.

This is my nephews' and niece's favourite train, so strictly speaking it doesn't quite qualify for this quarter's theme... but I thought you might like to see it anyway...
