My favourite Station building photo. Obtained from an estate years and years ago for a long time it was the only infrastructure on the entire line. Interior lighting was my iPhone 3 with the torch on.

My favourite thing at the moment is seeing everyone's favourites. Such good modelling.

(My new) green coaches with proposed Bulleid 0-6-4T. Note footplate man looking back, with professional satisfaction, at the coaches’ gleaming paintwork (though it’s a pretty dull day unfortunately and they don’t look very shiny anyway).
(Original image replaced with slightly less manipulated version, still not eligible for any prizes though)

Re: Garden Railway Gallery Sept 2021 ENTER HERE
Would it be acceptable and within the rules if I posted a merged photo of my favourite train in different scenes but all still on the one line?

Re: Garden Railway Gallery Sept 2021 ENTER HERE
Graeme,
There is nothing specific in the rules to cover this question. However in the open discussions a couple of months ago, the question of multiple entries was discussed at some length and the end result was to whittle down the suggested 4, to 2 entries each for a trial period (including this current Quarter). There is also a restriction on editing techniques, which again doesn't specifically cover this point, but to me, your proposal is outside the term "Basic editing" although I can concede that it could be a fine dividing line. With only 3 days to go, there isn't really time to get wider opinions, and to allow it now would potentially disadvantage other entrants.
So the "editors decision" is that for this quarter your proposal won't be allowed I'm afraid, but I'm open to comments from anyone as to whether the rules should be adjusted for the future.
Rather than your montage, may I suggest that you simply select your two most favourite shots and enter those individually, which is permitted under Rule 2.
For reference, the 2 rules to which I've referred are :
2) For a trial period, each registered forum member may submit TWO pictures, and those pictures may be replaced up until the closing date. Each picture must have a Title and if two pictures are submitted they MUST both be on the same post.
5) ....Basic editing will be allowed. i.e straightening, cropping, resizing, but advanced techniques such as adding smoke or steam effects, adding background pictures, etc, will not be permitted. This does not exclude for instance, using temporary physical screens to hide unsightly backgrounds before taking a photo.

We too are surrounded by fields with cattle and I agree they are, by far, my favourite neighbours. Beautiful creatures!

My favourite part of the current line, during it's last train movement. Too many good photos here to vote for just one!

Great shot Aaron which belies the tightly constrained nature of your railway

Looks like they might be obsessed with your trains though ......
As Peter says, great to have such gentle neighbours

PS - Has nothing to do with me being born on a dairy farm .... but I do love the smell of a milking parlour
Re: Garden Railway Gallery Sept 2021 ENTER HERE
No, it's actually quite a pleasant smell - a combination of cows' breath, milk and the disinfectant they use which has a very distinctive odour. The chap who fitted my solar panels popped round the other day as I was having a problem with the meter and, as soon as he walked in I recognised the smell. Turns out he's given up fitting solar panels and now spends all his time fitting out and servicing milking parlour equipment.

Things must have changed then. My great great uncle had a dairy farm and as a small child I remember going in there once, and the memory lingers to this day.... as I said... Phwoaar!

I wouldn't try milking our regular neighbours - I think bullocks may take exception!

Re: Garden Railway Gallery Sept 2021 ENTER HERE
Being Bullocks they are only our neighbours for the summer, being fattened for market. This year's cohort are very amiable - one year they were very excitable, and took a liking to eating the ballast - I now have an electric fence as a deterrent, but they still come to say hello.Peter Butler wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 11:15 am We too are surrounded by fields with cattle and I agree they are, by far, my favourite neighbours.
