Garden Railway Gallery June 2021 - 1 week left

Post by philipy » Sun Apr 04, 2021 8:44 am

Our thanks to Peter Butler for the next Gallery Theme

"Working on the Railway"

Closing date for entries will be 15th June. Rules as before.

Should be plenty of scope for variety, so lets have a bumper crop of pictures. How about some entries from those who don't often contribute, it doesn't have to be a photographic work of art!

I like it!

I have wondered what the split might be between owners building etc their railways and staged scenes of model workmen.

Great start Phil, just the kind of interpretation I was hoping for.

Hello all, what a really good subject! As my first ever post on the forum I will chip in with this view of re-ballasting in progress on the Bishops Woodland Light Railway.

A lovely scene - I can imagine the yarns being shared whilst they enjoy their break. And welcome to the forum!

1:19 ish engineering work on The Crowfoot Light Railway.
The farm tractor in the background is a smaller scale but used here to create a sense of distance.
This is a photo from my archives so if anyone has any objections to me using it then please let me know and I'll replcace it.

That's a nice looking scene Andy.

I like the crane, is it one of the Pechot type ones from Wrightscale?

Your comment about the tractor makes me think of Father Ted... "This one is small, the ones out there are far away"! :P

The crane is from Wrightscale. I also bought 2 additional crane chassis and converted them into tool wagons which can be seen here. I fitted Brandbright safety chains which are a bit longer than the prototypically correct cast ones in the kit but they allow the chains to be connected up when running. The set up also runs very well but is a real pain to connect up at the start of any run.

Looks very 'bucolic', and an excellent use of differing scales to add perspective. My photo is also from the 'archives'. As I understand it, that's within the rules.

The perspective works well Andy, I wouldn't have realised if you hadn't said.

An archive picture is fine, as long as it's yours which it obviously is, so don't worry about that. It was covered in the rules right back at the begining a couple of years ago.

The wee one has decided her place on the railway is to load trains with gravel, whether I like it or not...
