MARCH 2020 Quarterly Photo Gallery -FINAL REMINDER, 4 DAYS LEFT

Post by philipy » Sat Jan 04, 2020 4:44 pm

Kjell has proposed that the theme for March 2020 will be:
«Winter on the Garden Railway»

As he says,"There is a few weeks left of the winter. Hopefully there be some white days before end of March 2020.
And if not - you may have some pictures taken in previous winters."

So please lets post your entries on this thread asap. Rules as before and all entries to be submitted before 15th March 2020.

Here is one from last year of the whole garden. Sent this in case I'm not able to get a proper photo before the spring. I close my railway late Autumn and let the winter do its worst.

Great picture - although it makes me feels cold just looking at it!

Nice loco livery too...

Andrew.

Brilliant picture Andy. It sums up what most garden railways look like overall during the fastness of the worst Winter wearther. It's a cracker!

Cavok,

That's a very good picture. You clearly face challenges that are almost unheard of for us!

A picture from days long past. In 2006 the winter was very snowy. The tracks are laid on a compact pile of snow. The Regner Waldbahn No. 1 did its job well even in cold temperatures.

Beautiful country with some stunning railways - even if you have to dig down to find them.

Decided on different photo to the one just posted so removed it. Again, one from the archives as snow is a bit unpredictable these days.

It's going to be tough to choose a favourite this time!

To be fair, it always is! Just shows the excellence of the railways, photography and imagination of the membeship.

It would be nice if more members participated though.

I absolutely agreed Philip, even if I am being a bit hypocritical in saying so! I feel a little bit embarrased that I haven't 'supported the cause'. The trouble is I've not run anything in well over 18 months now and done no work on the outside railway in around the same time period. In all that time the only thing I've managed is to build up another turnout indoors. I will try to find a suitable picture for one of the quarterly competions. Please keep up the good work of managing them, they are a great feature of this Forum.

All the best,

Andrew

You are right Philip, there are some brilliant railways out there and the imagination of the members are outstanding. BUT, some members may not what to contribute for one reason or other. I for one have not done so yet and I am sorry I haven't, but the standard of the photos are so very high and I feel as other members I am thinking, are a bit intimidated, maybe that's not the word I am looking for, I haven't got a working line yet and when I did have, it wasn't anywhere near ready for photos that would grace this forum. Ok I have some that members have liked, but none that are worthy of showing... :(

I do remember now, I have contributed with a photo of my "Patricia Anne" on our first line... :D

A few words about this competition. Hopefully some snow will come before mid-March. Thus, there is also the possibility of some nice winter pictures from the garden :D
