Quarterly Garden Railway Gallery, Sept 2019 FINAL REMINDER, 1WEEK LEFT to enter.

ge_rik was the worthy winner of the June Gallery and has proposed the next theme as:

"ON TRACK"

He says, "It can be interpreted in several different ways - pictures of trackwork eg shots of track winding through the garden, pictures of bridges, level crossings, etc, track level shots of locos or stock, pictures of scheduled trains passing by, pictures of trains departing on time, or even a picture of a Caterpillar tractor....."

That's a pretty wide brief and I can foresee that choosing a winner will be no easy task, but there are no excuses for anyone not being able to enter ( except Rik himself of course!). So come on, post your entries below. Rules all as before and the closing date for submission will be 15th September 2019.

'Awaiting down trains viewed from Crowfoot Station platforms.'

Here can be seen the exit from and the entrance to Crowfoot Station looking towards the level crossing near to Woodside Halt.
The established trackwork is on brick and is yet to be ballasted. (2mm granite chippings and SBR) The right hand track is on Filcris which was re-used from the previous goods yard set up. This track, which exits from the goods passing loop, serves only the engine shed and the coal/water facility.

Thanks for getting us started Andy.
Thats a lovely red Acer in the background, but what is the tree with a distinct trunk, across the track from the loco shed?

That is one of 4 dwarf conifers we put in about 9 years ago. they were about 6" tall. One of the group has died but every now and then I trim off the small branches of the other three to keep a gap between the ground and the start of the main branches. I followed some advice from the US in Garden Railways mag. Other than that I try to control the height and they are presently about 4' tall. I estimate I will be too old to worry about them by the time they are 12' tall.
If the description 'dwarf' is correct it most often means the tree is slow growing and the younger ones amongst us should prepare to dig up and replace lineside conifers about every 10 to 12 years.

Thanks Peter. Now that really is thinking off-track!
I must find time to do my own entry but SWMBO has kept me extremely busy remodelling a section of the garden, so no time for proper modelling!

For the photography purists, there are plenty of lead in lines.

I clicked to edit the text on the first photo submitted for this competition but must have done something wrong. The addition was made to the original text on the photo but a copy of the text only ended up here.
The addition was the bit related to lead in lines.
I'm always getting things wrong on here as Philipy is well aware of.

Thanks for letting me know.

I wouldn't say "ALWAYS" Andy! :D
I noticed the apparently missing picture, but realised what must have happened, but I didn't want to delete the 2nd post without checking first and then that would have involved 2 or 3 PM's flying back and forth and decided it wasn't worth messing about with, tbh
