Congratulations on a well deserved win Kjell. Not only is it a great shot of a lovely loco, it also shows what a lovely railway you have built.

A big thank you to everyone who voted for my photo. :)
And the theme for the next Quarterly Garden Railway Gallery will be:

Funny people and situations on the Garden Railway

As I know the members of this forum, there should be many good candidates for the topic.

Ooops, my apologies, I've just realised that I haven't actually announced the winner of the March gallery, which was, by a mile, Peter Butler.

Thank you all very much, what a nice surprise, (clutching imaginary 3D printed trophy), I don't know what to say other than quote the late, great Spike Milligan on receiving his Lifetime Achievement Award.... 'about bloody time!'
There are far too many people to name for supporting me but I must thank Diane for supplying me with curry, whiskey and wine, without which none of this would be possible.
In the best tradition of award ceremonies I feel obliged to remind everyone to do our share to save the planet, so please remember to abandon steam and go electric!

For the next quarter's competition I suggest the theme..... Working on the Railway.

I remember when Spike was getting his Lifetime Achievement award and, after a big build-up, there was a special video message from the Prince of Wales who, of course, was a great fan of the Goon Shows (and could do all the voices). He gave Spike a glowing tribute.

The presenter turned to Spike and with great solemnity said something along the lines of, "Well, what do you make of that?"

After a very brief pause, Spike replied, "Grovelling little bar stool!"

Which of course brought the house down.

Rik

NB - The expletive detection system on the forum seems to have substituted Spike's original word for two similar sounding alternatives .....

Thanks Rik, you are obviously familiar with the occasion I mentioned but I have now added the link to the youtube video, which includes the full script.
It brings tears of joy every time I watch it.

Fantastic modelling Peter. I wish I had your imagination as well as your skills to produce those.

PS. BUT I don't have your humour streak. I didn't find Spike Milligan's speech at all funny. Just people laughing because he used to be funny.

I have to agree with Greg, I don't find that speech particularly funny. For me, unfortunately he had lost his humerous edge by that time. A bit like old singers who haven't realised that their voices have gone with age.

Well, I have to admit it brings tears of joy and laughter to my eyes even though I've seen it countless times.....
Thanks for posting the video link, Peter

Rik
PS I still find most of the Goon Shows really funny. Having tried unsuccessfully to once write a comedy play, I am awe of how Spike managed to turn out scripts for the shows on a weekly basis, though I have to say I didn't find his TV shows anywhere near as funny. While writing this I am listening to another episode of "Cabin Pressure". John Finnemore is another comic genius. As you can tell, I am an ardent listener of Radio 4.

Have to admit it was a staged photo purely for the competition. I thought we needed a few more entries - then there was a last minute rush with some really great photos.

I thought there were plenty of others which could easily have won.

That is exactly the same for me, just that my staged scene was less inspired than yours!

Seriously, would everyone who reads this, please read my POLL thread and vote!

Well, for Sept 2021 it a dead heat between BWLR and Old Man Aaron.
Well done to both of you. Both worthy winners, but so were several of the the others IMO, it was difficult deciding which to vote for.

Anyway, we need you two to propose the theme for the next quarter. Could you PM me with your suggestions in the next few days please?

Cheers, gents! Agreed, it was very hard to choose just one picture to vote for. I've sent you a message, Phil.
