A metal ladder for a water tower??

Hi lads and er lass, I am making a water tower for the MPLR (check out the 'how we did it' page on the website) and I would like to buy/make a metal ladder to go up the side. Any ideas? We have thought about making one from brass rod and soldering it together but I don't fancy the soldering much as you'd have to do it a bit quick so that it doesn't come apart as fast as you solder the next bit! I have had a search but can't find one to buy either. So it may be back to bits of matchstick and coffee stirrers yet!

I've used a glue I bought in Tesco's which I think is called 'Seriously strong glue' on brass rod and all sorts of other things. Very good it is too. About £3 a tube I think.

Yes brass strip, brass rod and a soldering iron and a 1.2mm drill.. plus a fine razor tooth saw but you have answered yer own question!

I bought a pack of half a dozen 250mm brass ladders (from a firm called "Robbe" or "Robbie" - I beleive they're suppliers to either G scale or model boats

)
£3.75 the pack, certainly saved a lot of hassle

Just thought you might be interested to know that I finished said tower and made my own ladder in the end! Here's a piccy....

Amazing what you can do with coffee stirrers!

Coffee stirrers and cocktail sticks Ive made some and they do look the bizz.. a lot quicker to make than soldering brass strip and rod and cheaper..too

Absolutely, and more fun. I got so enthused I made 3. Now I keep running round looking for somewhere to put them!
