Glue?.... from my experience I have learned both what glue to use and what not to use! My early attempts using silicone was fast and made a firm structure.....

Unfortunately water managed to creep into the joints and delaminate the slate.... fail!... If the structure is hollow it can be filled with cement.... success!
The silicone method would work for an indoor layout I'm sure.
If the base material is firm and stable, the method I use is a powdered, waterproof tile cement mixed with SBR bonding agent (not water)..... similar to Tony's....

This adhesive has now held firm through 3 winters when laid on a concrete foundation. I use the same method for platform edging too.

I have tried silicone before and found it fails in time also
Lately i seem to be having good luck with gripfil of all things...

Great video Tony. I can see from the questions that all have been answered with your usual very helpful replies. I credit to you for showing how it should be done.
But unfortunately for me trying to do that would end up with me having very black and blue thumb and fingers
Another thing is the purchase of slates, again unfortunately try to get slates from around me and it's like getting gold dust...The prices are ridicules expensive. The reclaimers around here do know what to charge.
