I don't know about car spray but I've seen proper Mamod coloured paint advertised by "steam4fun". Mostly they sell stuff geared more toward the traction engines but maybe the paint is the same, I don't know...

In Canada I found a spray paint called "Wild Raspberry" from "Tremclad" that looks very much, as far as I can tell, like the "Victorian Maroon" used by Roundhouse. At least it looks close as far as I can tell from pictures on the computer. I used it on my kit loco and it looks quite good .

I had a hard time finding car paint that didn't have "sparkles" in it. Tremclad is a "rust paint" but it seems to work.

Maybe. Just trying to help. I don't have any green engines, or mamods. I'll mind my own business from now on.

Car paint aerosols equivalent for railway colours

SR pre-war Malachite Green is closely approximated by Rover Java Green (I sprayed a test strip and compared it to Lord Nelson at the Mid-Hants Railway). Java green is perhaps a tone too light at 1:1 scale but it certainly gives an insight to the "ugh" reaction of some to Bulleid's Malachite! (especially when seen next to the earlier, sober, Olive Green).
