Vale of Fairway
Re: Vale of Fairway
G and T - lemon water I'm afraid, a replacement for my omeprazole!
I think some handrails would be a nice H & S touch at the end of those comfy planks.

Re: Vale of Fairway
Will have to try that Derek, the G & T.
The handrails are a good idea.

Re: Vale of Fairway
His Lordship has sourced the bogies from an old WDLR type C wagon, the body has long since rotted but the workshop feel they can do something similar....

Re: Vale of Fairway
Fair bit of shadow so can't make out the detail unfortunately but the wood work looks good and well used.
Re: Vale of Fairway
I use the shadows to make you think I can build like Peter B
Re: Vale of Fairway
Plates added to two lgb skip chassis. The box body should be about 11" long so the spacing is about right to the ruler. My bargain b and q wood has been sifted for the thinnest strips as the width is about spot on. Beginning to think this bad boy may dwarf everything else....
Re: Vale of Fairway
I think we all wish that Derek…
Even so, it’s a great build all the same…it’s better than I could do.

Re: Vale of Fairway
A resin body kit from Mike's marvellous models, although the cab castings were a tadge less than marvellous but after a bit of filing I think we are getting somewhere. The Essel chassis from a 16mm rc diesel worked first time after charging so it should prove a strong hauler and hopefully in service soon.

Re: Vale of Fairway
I love that little man-rider, the detail and finish are superb.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: Vale of Fairway
How do you get to order anything from him Derek.

Re: Vale of Fairway
Ummm, where do I start? I ordered some bits from him October 2016 at the Exeter show after seeing stuff on ebay. That order died a death as I understand his personal life went in to meltdown (his words) and he relocated to Cornwall. Last summer he re-appeared on the SE Lounge (a 7/8 forum like this) advertising this kit and announcing he was giving the business another go. I haven't seen any posts in 2018 so assume he has melted away from the scene.
If you join the lounge you could track him down and send a personal message but I fear you will draw a blank.

PS you may be able to track him on Facebook as well.

Re: Vale of Fairway
Getting a bit of shape but got a feeling my tube of filler is going to take a hit. The air filter (a bidet fixing and cover, my addition ) is crooked but not stuck yet. Thinking a pot of canopy glue might be useful for the windows that were actually quite easy to cut. A radiator fan is on the way in plasticard to help add a bit of detail. Any suggestions for embellishments greatly received, got to be some rusty chains dangling somewhere! Pondering on adding a small tool bunker on the rear of the cab as I have a pair of re- railing shoes that need a home.
Re: Vale of Fairway
Off the top of my head, exhaust pipe and silencer, horn, windscreen wiper, doors/louvres on the bonnet sides. Lights, or lamp irons, pipe work, grab handles. Vacuum pipes if it will haul passenger stock.
If I think of any more I'll add them.

Re: Vale of Fairway
Well Mr Cock up is only ever a few seconds away and my drill through the footplate was a mis measurement and came through in front of the bonnet. Bit of L angle with rivets has covered the hole and might help secure the bonnet without the need for magnets.
Settled on a rear hand rail to carry the re- railers but not so good for the ghostly chains, box on the front?

Re: Vale of Fairway
I had to look at the second picture twice as I thought that was a 5" ride on loco!
Re: Vale of Fairway
Thanks Tom. I like the way it stands on its toes and gives a real narrow gauge look. Must add the exhaust!
Re: Vale of Fairway
It does look very impressive Derek..are you going to put a straight exhaust or a bent one. I think a bent one with the end cap opening to the front would look good.
