I thought you had too, Tom. But I think you've been topped.

Perhaps you should get out more Tom?
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

A book on sheds.....
Only as long as there are scratch and sniff panels on it to give the complete experience.

If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer!
Re: Vale of Fairway
If this was scratch and sniff it would be Ronseal Dark brown preservative. Need to build a bolt for the dolls house latch before fitting the hinges. The bricks have had a bit of a work over with humbrol rust weathering powder.

Great job Derek, love it.

Re: Vale of Fairway
Time to kick start the engine shed. Decided to horizontal clad the shed but thought a layer of bricks at the base might keep the timber from standing in damp. This is going to be an interesting build as the overall building is too large for my work bench....build when Mrs B is at work?
Re: Vale of Fairway
Door latch is the icing on the cake. Very nice secure looking shed.

Re: Vale of Fairway
Ironically I have a kitchen worktop to work on but thought it clever to add 6" of shelving against the wall. Must check the width of my bridge building bench for size
Re: Vale of Fairway
I have scored the inner walls to represent planking but probably won't be adding lot of detail so good enough for the 10 foot rule.

Re: Vale of Fairway
Looks very interesting Derek, what do you use for your’e cladding please.
On Peter Butler’s thread I have mentioned not been motivated to do anything, but after seeing your’s and Peter’s I am going to have a go at something, maybe not up to both of you two and other members standards, but I am differently going to have a go at something.

Re: Vale of Fairway
Hi Rod, hope you are feeling a bit better.
The cladding is 4mm x 19mm from B and Q, although they may be winding down there stocks as I have had all the straight lengths in Gloucester and Cwmbran only had short lengths at reduced price . I will soak them in a dark brown Ronseal before sticking with Gripfill solvent style adhesive (pink insolvent was a disaster elsewhere).
It has been a bit of a puzzle trying to plan where to start with the cladding to ensure I get a full length on the narrow front entrance piece. In addition, the sheer size of the building has made it difficult to glue together and then clad it as the structure won't have any strength until the sub roof goes on (artificial roof slate for weight). At least that's how I see it but time will prove me right or wrong!

Thanks Derek for your’e reply it’s very helpful.
Will have to get down to B & Q and have a look...
Feeling a bit better, just a little episode with the heart again, don’t really want to go in and have another operation, but they have altered one of my tablets to slightly more (+ Half) so will have to see how it goes. Thank You.

Re: Vale of Fairway
Not quite the speed of a Butler but some progress on the shed. Each piece of wood is getting a dunking in Ronseal so this was never going to be quick. The Gripfill is sticking well. Wood for the doors is on order but still need to work out the centre post affair. The top needs a trim as I found it slightly difficult (euphemism for blody nigh impossible) to cut to size and at an angle with the chop saw.
If you live near a B and Q there seems to be some odd tool clearances going on..steel rulers 50p, extending tapes £1. If we weren't borassic after Christmas I would have spent a fortune on set squares but instead stocked up on the 4mm pine strips that are also being cleared out

Re: Vale of Fairway
Er! the size of this building is starting to show, like the timber colour.

Re: Vale of Fairway
I love it.
A resin or plastic built building never looks as realistic as when you use real world materials, my opinion only of course.

Re: Vale of Fairway
Yep, I agree, it's looking good though and I like the colour as well.
My brain still 'see's' things in 4mm and it always surprises me when my buildings turn out to be so big in reality!

Re: Vale of Fairway
Yet too build one, but I am sure it will not be as good has others on the forum

Re: Vale of Fairway
A sneaky test run in the kitchen forgetting Mrs B was coming early for our solicitors appointment. I've ordered some hinges for the main doors but my wood delivery still hasn't arrived. Helpful Royal mail tracking shows the parcel was scanned this morning whatever that means. Can't decide whether to use foamboard or wood for internal dummy frame, most of it won't be seen so foamboard may be easier.
