Lovely crane!
A bit of chain and a hook and you are sorted
Where did I put that uncoupler?

Those Trenarren ones look good. Might have to investigate making my own though, as I'm going to need quite a few.

A touch of rust and a new chain and we're virtually there, progress being hampered by poor patient father in-law

Like the look of that, got a sort of 'useful around the workshop' appearance about it.

They'll work out quite expensive at a fiver for three!

Well this took a long time coming but actually cut some artificial slate for the roof. The centre pier may need strengthening but if I continue to work at this speed then that should be sorted by Christmas....

May have been a long time coming, but well worth the wait by the looks of it.

That does look rather good, well thought out and executed!

I am loving this Derek, show’s that you don’t need to make a model in 4 days. Where did you find the artificial slate from please.
Know what you mean with…., somewhere mate, can’t find a lot now with moving, I have lost a little jig I made up for cutting the coffee stirrer’s lol…and all sorts of things, this heatwave
at the moment isn’t helping either….

The artificial slates are composite type material from Jewsons. I cut them with a tile cutter (powered) And have used small strips to add weight to wagons under the chassis.
Builders merchants may sell invidually but I bought a pack of 25 and can only see 3 whole ones left in the shed.... no idea I had used that many...there must be more somewhere, probably with the Modelearth oil drum set I bought

Absolutely! I'm full of admiration for those that do, but equally inspired by those who manage to maintain momentum for a project over a long period - I tend to snatch my modelling time from the rest of the day in hour long chunks and often only manage two or three of those a week, so any project I start tends to take a long time to complete...
It's already a lovely looking model, the wood looks great, looking forward to seeing more...
All the best,
Andrew.

An afternoon trying to build a match truck for the crane backfired when I found coupling heights were too far out. Never mind, tipper 29 has joined the fleet but needs a weathered chassis.
Wasn't convinced that trying to stick corrugated plastic to the roof would have been successful in the heat. The easy side was laid in the cool this evening hence the dark photo. Gut feeling tells me some nail art rivets along the roof would add some interest.

The joy of 7/8ths, larger buildings!
Love it, very convincing...

Always!
Probably more to scale for 7/8ths too... Despite not having done a huge amount of modelling of late I'm about to start my second box of nail art gems - I can't have used over 1,000 already, can I?!
The building's really looking very good indeed... Where do you get your corrugated iron from - and do you think it would do in 16mm? I'm starting to plan a small station building based on the (old) WHR one at Nantmor...
Cheers,
Andrew.

I agree, it looks good.
I like the old Nantmor station. I had a similar one by Wills on a OO gauge layout. A similar one may appear on my railway when it gets built. Are there any drawings for it or plans?
