Time to build a railway...but where?
Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Congratulations! Quality and quantity...
Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Yes indeed! Quite a record, and well deserved. It's a great little railway

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Greetings to all. I am a new member to the forum and have just completed a full read of your thread Peter. Very impressed with your railway and modelling. I, as yet, have not started my railway (save a few scratch build wagons and a couple of Phil Sharples kits) and am really inspired by the atmosphere you have created, also by the friendly support apparent through the thread, great to be here. Mike

Looking forward to you starting a thread to show us what you've created so far. Those scratchbuilds sound interesting.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
A while ago I mentioned building a PDF Models 'Double Fairlie' kit for Brian. I showed the finished body on page 176 of this thread before handing it to Alan to complete the power bogies and install RC, which he is much better qualified to do. After some time waiting for delivery of a receiver and rechargeable battery pack it was finished and ready for handover to our mutual friend Brian.
I think he looks pretty satisfied!
Then it was time to give 'Sir Brian' a run on Alan's garden railway, along with his, and my own, Bachmann Double Fairlies, so a tripple 'Double' was to be seen working their way around the line, and a wonderful sight it was too!...

Very nice all round Peter. Well done all.
That curved viaduct is rather tasty as well, any clues about it's construction?

Stunning stuff, thanks for the pictures!
The real FfR has featured double Double Fairlies in recent weeks, but three is even better!

I'm not sure but enquiries are underway.... I do know Cain Howley makes one so it may be from him, waiting for a response to the question.
This is on Cain's own railway......

Confirmation Philip... the viaduct is a Cain Howley product.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
With so much going on elsewhere and the after effects of lock-down, I have had little time, or interest, in getting to grips with the weeds which have taken over on my railway. At last I tackled the problem and spent many hours on hands and knees with trowel and bucket (and wheelbarrow!) to clear the mess.
Tomorrow I will take my assistant, 'Henry', for a trip around the line to clear the remaining debris from the track, and then..... run a train, for the first time this year I think?

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Those weeds are a real pain aren't they. We have no where near the size of your line Peter and we have struggled this year to try and keep them down. Yes and lockdown has also had me not wanting to do a lot with the line. I must try now to get back to a more normal life and get back to running and building our line.
I know with the help you are getting from your assistant, 'Henry' it will soon be back to it's brilliant self...

Me too! I'm glad I'm not alone. I've run the odd battery-powered goods train this year, but nothing much beyond that. Nice to see your railway coming back to life Peter - with luck, you'll squeeze in a train or two before you pack all the buildings away for winter!
Andrew.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I'm pleased to say my assistant, Henry, (other assistants are available!) got to work with his usual smiley face, and between us we managed to remove all of the debris from the track and particularly, the points.....
As can be seen in the picture, a locomotive appeared to 'road test' the line to pick out any faults. Fortunately none were found and no derailments occurred. Before long another railbus showed up to play and I found myself enjoying a tail-chasing session, the first in a very long time.

Henry does look pleased. Glad you got to have a run with your locos Peter. It makes the effort you put into cleaning your line worthwhile doesn't it.
