Happy to oblige Phil... The locomotive is built from a Bandai traction engine kit of the 1970's, possibly still available at extortionate prices on eBay.

The latest kit from Jerry Irwin has been delivered and is already well under construction. As usual the build instructions are on Youtube as link below....

As ever, the parts are superbly designed and cut forming a well thought out model which looks just wonderful. Everything you need to complete the wagon is included, metal wheels are available on request (at small extra cost). Mine is 32mm gauge but Jerry will soon offer a 45mm gauge option....

Wow! I wasn't expecting a nearly three hour video showing the complete blow by blow construction. I can see why you really enjoy making Jerry's kits - so thoughtfully and cleverly designed!

And his West country accent is restful and reassuring.

Yes Rik, all of Jerry's construction videos are quite long and informative. He is clearly highly skilled and meticulous in his design and planning, but his delivery is so casual and unhurried, with no sense of dire consequences if you don't follow. I love his West Country accent too, very soothing.
(If you are reading this Jerry, please don't get embarrassed!)
The kit is an absolute dream to build and the many moving parts make it different from his previous kits. It will make a striking addition to any quarry scene or train.
I should be able to show mine in paint soon.

That is one amazing vehicle Peter. It looks as though it would have been very top heavy in use, but I guess it must have been OK.

Thanks Jerry, my pictures did not do justice to your wonderful kit, my apologies for that. My model is now fully finished and ready for its official portrait on the railway, I will try to get better images to post tomorrow.
I am so delighted with this model and I do hope others will support Jerry too, his kits are superior in every way and I can't wait for the next.

Thank you Jerry for answering Jimmyb's enquiry, you managed to get there first!
The tipper is finished and has been introduced to its new home on the railway. It seems to have settled in very well, although has yet to see the entire line in daylight, and without natural hazards which have overtaken the track.
Here it is in more familiar surroundings.....

That's VERY impressive, and most attractive too - congratulations to both of you!

I was surprised to see how small it is - you're right Peter, it would look just right in a quarry. Are you planning to build another half dozen or so, a whole rake would look great...

Thanks Andrew, I'm so pleased you approve. It is a wonderful model and I find it curiously attractive too.... firstly because it is unusual and should draw attention, but secondly because it is a satisfying mechanical design to perform a menial function. I also agree a rake of these would look great in the right environment, which is not my priority on the BURPS, and which, as a tourist/preservation line, only needs examples of rolling stock to show the history and development of my fictional railway. I like to build different items of stock to add to the collection, so one is usually sufficient.

Phil, I believe the prototype side tipper wagons originated from USA, but I haven't found anything on the internet to identify makers. Perhaps Jerry can offer his source of construction details?

I thought you'd say that! I'm the same, really - I'm currently focusing on a rake of WHR slate wagons, but will be modelling different variants so that no two are quite the same...

I must admit that when I first saw this a few days ago, my first thought was of a short rake to put behind my Contractors Loco (which, believe it or not, is finally within a whisker of being finished!), but amazing as it is, it simply doesn't look "British". I can't imagine these tippers being at home on the King George V Reservoir in Edwardian Chingford.

I think I recall seeing our Australian and US friends running similar models - Bachmann in origin, possibly??
