Your obviously very well practiced at getting the N gauge ballast where it's meant to go, and not anywhere else.
Wish our pubs were that small, Nayook could do with one. In Australia they tend to have quite a large footprint.

Coming along nicely, Peter. That ballast looks perfect for the infill.

Hi Peter, the tablets haven’t took affect just yet, but I am hopeful.

Thanks for the explanation on the HIP and also what SBR is used for, been online and found this,

Styrene-butadiene or styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), it’s pretty much what my father used when he was mixing concrete, it made it go like granite...haha.

Loving you build Peter, it is looking brilliant.

Well done Rod, that's something I have learned from you. I think the key ingredient is the rubber which remains flexible when set and allows for expansion etc. when used on ballast and HIP structures.
For the main body of my buildings I use 2mm thickness HIP and add bracing on the inside where any larger flat surfaces remain between window frames etc. It is surprisingly strong and the weight soon builds up to keep them in place in winds. You could always add weights inside the structures if you feel it necessary but so far I haven't.

With all of the panels infilled and set, time to splash on some plastic primer.
The roof sheet has first been covered to prevent the paint covering the HIP. This is only to make it less messy when I attach the 'slate' strips and prevents the solvent becoming grey coloured....

With the white paint on, the texture of the N gauge ballast really shows nicely and looks exactly right.

Yes - just like grey primer on locos/wagons brings things together, the undercoat has done the same on this building - looking good
Where did I put that uncoupler?

There may be trouble brewing in the village.....
Having restored and fitted out the pub, at quite some expense to the B.U.R.P.S. trustees, new tenants were sought and a couple with excellent references appointed to run the pub/restaurant. The building has been carefully returned to its original condition to fit into its surroundings and comply with local planning restrictions, however Julian and Josh clearly have other ideas....

It's pink!!!!!
Yes' that's right..... they have painted it pink.
That hasn't gone down well with the local community and there may be repercussions. I do hope not as the hospitality and service they offer is second to none.

Seen quite a few pink rendered cottages in the Suffolk style, so why not a pub? Looks terrific, especially with those windows, and of course the chimney pots, also in a style popular in those parts I believe.

With the problems of housing shortages I thought my next project should be for a private dwelling. Forming part of my street scene, (I will need to name the roads soon), and attached to 'Dirty Dicks' gastro pub, is a small Victorian style house, yet another property which had fallen into disrepair when the stone quarry shut down. It is now updated to comfortable accommodation but some structural work became necessary to support the end wall following movement of the foundations......

Made in the usual way it has corner and horizontal supports inside and is very strong...
